Talented, timely Haley is talking about ordering Christmas Cards on her photography blog.
And I just got this message from Darlybird:
And I just got this message from Darlybird:
Hi Friends,
Today marks the one year anniversary of Darlybird. A celebration is in order, to be sure! Just enter happydarly in the coupon code field of the checkout screen and you'll receive 20% off your entire order!
This is the perfect time to get your holiday shopping started; come December, you'll be sipping hot chocolate by the fire while the rest of the world is battling congestion at the mall. Sounds like a good plan to me!
A sale like this comes along only once a year, so spread the love. Sale ends August 20th, so shop early for the best selection.
Love,
Rachel
Tell the truth, have you started to think about ol' Kris Kringle already?

24 Pieces of Opinion:
no, in fact, when i got that message from darlybird this morning, i didn't think of anyone but myself. Christmas presents? come on. i only buy those for my kids. and target is just fine for them.
Leslie,
Target is just fine for me too. . . in case I make your Christmas list.
I just spent $54.00 on presents for myself. Christmas what?
And maybe one for my sister, if I don't like the way it looks on me first. Truly I possess the spirit of giving...
I want to check out the Christmas cards, because I have been thinking about those... but the link isn't working. Is it just me?
The link didn't work for me either. I would like to see the cards. . . can you point us to Haley's blog?
Last night I saw a commercial for the "world's smallest remote-control helicopter" and I believe I'll be ordering one of those for Hubs soon, but saving it for Christmas. Perhaps 2 so he & my 7-yr-old can enjoy them together... other than that I haven't given presents any thought yet. One year I was preg with twins and had all of my Christmas shoppping done in October, in anticipation of possible bedrest during prime shopping weeks. It felt so nice to have it done early but I've yet to repeat that. Oh yeah, and I'm getting choir Christmas music together now (ward choir director). Too long of a response; lo siento.
Do you have any idea how hard it is for me right now (especially since you had to go and use that four-letter-word "sale") to not whip out my credit card right this second and buy this. And not even for the kids.
Hmmm. Maybe I need to change my name to compulsive shopper/
Okay, Okay.. since you begged.. the cards can be seen on my blog - haywusup.blogspot.com :)LOL
Courtney: I think of Christmas ALL THE TIME. In fact, my kids favorite bedtime song this summer has been "Stars Were Gleaming" a for-certain primary Christmas song. And, two weeks ago, I went shopping for Christmas ornaments. I have also picked out my daughter's "big" present for this year. I am counting down the days to snowy nights and hot cocoa. And I'm getting impatient.
Goodness I am sorry about that defunct link. It is now fixed but let me give you a hyper link as well Haley's Christmas Cards
Merry Seasons Everybody!
no
We totally talked about this subject at girl's night out tonight. Some girls are already making lists (and probably checking them twice). I just want to make it through summer. I'll go there in a week.
But I still have Halloween costumes to work on! The pressure!!!
I do start "thinking" about my Christmas cards this time of year, because it takes me like...FOREVER to make my cards.
Oh, and I always think about Christmas music and when it might be pushing it to start listening to dear Ella's Christmas album.
i have started thinking about Christmas but I haven't done anything about it. yikes!
I am the worst! I never start Christmas shopping until a week before the event.
I secretly listened to Christmas music in my car (via the ipod) a couple of weeks ago. A few days later Mr Parkes put a Christmas cd on at home. Growing up my family had a rule, no Christmas music from May to July.
I already have about 50% of my present purchased (with nephews and a niece it's easy, hit the sales all year long).
I do 'themed' wrapping paper each year and I have already picked this years out. I'm ordering it in two weeks.
This is not because I am an anal about it, I just LOVE the holidays.
Car, what is this year's theme?
I totally already have ideas for Christmas. Mainly because they are crafty, so I need to get on them early. It's only a recent thing that I plan Christmas early. I love the thought of giving gifts and giving the perfect one.
I thought a lot Kris after watching your bro's big premiere.
Now I'm thinking how sad I am that I can't use the jolly old elf as leverage for motivating the kids. The jig was up last year.....:(
Not until last Monday.
I had a nice RM over for brunch in the morning and he was sitting down as I was standing up and giving him a nice back scratch (a la sacrament meeting scratch)
Him: "I feel like Santa Claus"
Me: "uh, why?"
Him: "well I'm sitting down and someone should come sit on my lap"
CLEVER!
Now all I can think about is Christ mas. Go figure.
xoxo

CJane,
This years selections are different shades of shinny blue with silver decorations. The different decorations are roll 1- snow men with top hats (with swirls in the background) 2- squares in 6 different shades of blue each with different images (ie snow men, oridament ball, Christmas tree, snow flakes, swirls, dots and the words 'Merry Christmas') in the silver color and 3 - blue with a slightly lighter blue outline of squares and Christmas holly. Simple, elegant and the perfect addition to any Christmas tree and exchange! (found at www.orientaltrading.com/, item number IN-4/3818. (sorry, I don't know how to do the links in comments). The great thing is that the paper is on sale right now!
Oh, and the reason for ordering in two weeks... I can look at it every few days and make sure it still fits in with this years holiday spirit! (Is it strange that I have a holiday spirit that acts up around July?)
ps - Sorry it's so long, there is no describing the beauty of holiday wrapping in few words!
Yep, yep, yep. I have! Thanks for spreading the love on the Darly news. I'll have to check that out.
Car, muy impressive. I bet it's going to be beautiful!
If I don't buy anything else for the rest of the year, I have enough stuff for the girls. However, we hardly ever see snow here in the NW for Christmas and we might been in Texas and I know we definitely won't see it there. That will be quite an adjustment.
