Enjoy It to the Max

On the grass with Lolo, Stella and Ralph Dupont

This weekend I came across this post by Gwen Bell. She says:
The blogs, stories and people I love to read the most are the ones that seem to have no idea I’m reading them. Traffic is not a measure of how well you’re writing. Comments aren’t either. Write, blog or tell your stories for the sheer joy of unleashing your creativity.
Point well-taken Gwen.

My traffic charts are fun to read. The comments and e-mails I receive are very rewarding. Messages that appear on my Guestbook are undeniably encouraging. All of these are perks for sharing with the world personal ponderances (and other words I have made up to prove a point.) To be fair to any readership I am lucky--very lucky and grateful--to have, I can't let anything distract me from my goal here in the blogosphere, you know, the whole reason behind "Enjoy It."

God has given me two clear desires. The first, a baby. The second, to write. While the first one has been so far unattainable, the second one has found a home, here on cjanerun.com. I write about all the second best things to having a baby. Far seconds, but what are you going to do?

So here is to remembering my purpose for clocking in on my blog everyday. My delicious little pleasures, which have incidentally doubled, no tripled, no FOURDRIPLED! since I started recognizing their existence. It seems that whenever I post a happy adventure, I end up with a dozen more experiences begging to be published.

If I begin to post several times a day, I hope no one will think I've gone mad (or, like, madsolutely mad.) It's just me opening up my life for more enjoyables as well as taking the advise of Ms. Bell and "unleashing my creativity."

Whip-ha!

P.S. Something else to ponder: "The blogs, stories and people I love to read the most are the ones that seem to have no idea I’m reading them."
Can I write with the mindset that no one is going to read me?
Will that improve my posts?
Can it hurt to try?

It's tough, because how do you separate the knowledge that someone IS reading your blog when you KNOW that they are. Everytime I see a new bold post in my google reader, I'm reading what you've written. But most of the time, I will say, it seems you are writing for your self. It's like I'm peaking into your personal life. Thank you for that!

It's such a great thing to find the joys in life, despite the obvious trials. If writing helps to do that, then wonderful! If we all get to read it, then BONUS!

I think blogging is dead if you're in it sheerly to attract readers. I've noticed that people (not you!)who blog to entertain their readers lose that special "it" quality that got people reading their blog in the first place. Trying too hard is the killer of good blogs. I'm attracted to funny, inspiring and emotionally honest blogs...blogs that have that kernel of humaness that make us all the same. I think doing it for yourself should always be your first goal...that is what attracted your readers in the first place.

I would NOT complain one bit if you decided that you needed to post about 50 times a day! I LOVE reading your posts! You have a true gift for writing -- the kind of gift that without even being there, you make us readers feel like we are a fly on the wall in your life! And no pressure or anything, but several of my friends have asked me about you because they are so captivated by your blog! Write away!! And by the way, I really loved your blue shoes yesterday...and how quickly you walk in them!

Love the post. Love the pictures. I'm assuming Chup took them. He's an amazing photographer. I'd be interested in hiring him to take some pics of my two little girls.

Oh it is fun to philosophize about blogging. Thanks for these comments and reading my sweet friends. I will try no to disappoint.

Rachel, thanks for the feedback. And lovely to meet you.

Rochelle, I like that, "BONUS".

Leisha, good advise "do it for yourself first."

Kar, I really might post 50 times a day. Chup might leave me, but that is a trade off. Wanna borrow my speedy Gonzales blue shoes to get to the hospital when the time arrives?

Cami, I will make sure Chup gets your compliment. He does have an "eye" if you will . . . and I think you will . . .

You know that my own favorite post got no comments and I’m (mostly) OK with that. I think it all has to do with your blogging goals. I like conversation and I hope that my blog fosters it.

Every time I write in my blog it is with the mindset that no one is going to read it, except maybe my hub, if I remind him. If I wrote for the comments...well, ha! That would be hilarious.

I just hope my kids will appreciate what I wrote someday.

I like how direct this is. I like that you're unleashing, mad or not.

I don't like that now I'm staying up even later that my camp preparations have kept me up, but at least I like that I'm reading you, three times over. It's not overdone. Be fruitful and multiply in every way you can. It's all leading to (en)joy.
