Today's Headlines Confirmed What My Heart Already Knows

People are always like "c jane you never answer your phone. It is really annoying. Why don't you answer your phone once-in-a-while? Why don't you want to talk to me? It hurts my tender feelings so badly. Like you don't care about us. Why don't you care about us?" and so on like that.

This is why people. This is why. And (like every study done under the sun) it's SERIOUS.

Hmmmm....can I please use that excuse too? I am just not much of a phone talking person.

So maybe this is true, but not from the cell phone radiation, but from the lack of supervision of my child that occurs when I am speaking on said cell phone.

And I quote: "They add that there might be other possible explanations that they did not examine – such as that mothers who used the phones frequently might pay less attention to their children – and stress that the results 'should be interpreted with caution' and checked by further studies."

I think that (above) is the problem. It's amazing how your patience completely disappears when you're trying to have a conversation on your cell phone and your three kids need something. I'm confessing to this, it ain't pretty, and that's why I don't talk on my phone a lot either.

Now I know why this world is going mad! If only cell phones weren't invented everyone would be so normal!
Jamie's MOM

p.s. we never answer our phones and nobody is prego, go figure.

Dear C,

You were like this before you got knocked up.

It's OK, you don't like us, we get it.

I agree with Leslie that the child's problem most likely stems from the behavioral environment of the mother. There are all kinds of studies like this; such as the recent one about breastmilk-fed babies having higher IQ's - it seems to me that those babies inherited the genes from mothers whose IQ's are high enough to realize the benefits of breastmilk; the IQ magic didn't pass to them from the breastmilk itself. Don't mean to open a can of worms, just pointing out that these studies are often inconclusive. That said, anyone who calls you has prerogative to leave a message at the tone :)

I'm so relieved. Because you know, way back when I was having kids we still had party lines on our land lines. (well, almost)

I'd like to do a study just to study how stupid studies are.

Sure! Blame it on the pregnancy!

One thing in your favor, I have to say, that you always respond to your messages either by phone or email. You're good that way!

By the way, what do you still need for the little Chief?

My children are CRAZY, and I don't even own a cell phone.

I didn't have a cell phone when my kids were babies and neither did their birthmothers. I didn't breastfeed them either....oddly enough, they still turned out pretty decent!

Opinions and (elbows).....everybody's got one (or two).

Same reasons why I don't smoke or drink while I am pregnant. Apparently is causes problems.

What was your excuse before pregnancy Mrs. Balderdash?

I'm going to say bull pucky. Have cell phones been around long enough to even test things like that? Everything is linked to everything, leave it alone people. Everything causes cancer, everything causes obesity. I did a study, so it must be true right?

Hmmm...it seems to me that you didn't answer the phone very often BEFORE you were pregnant...however, I could be mistaken.

...odd how that is, isn't it?

Oh thank you for your gift.

I understand that in the UK if you don't want to answer the phone it is perfectly acceptable.

My dream job is being a researcher. Oh, the things I could research are endless.

Coincidentally last night as I sat looking at the woman across the restaurant from me wearing her purpletooth, or whatever it is called, I thought to myself... I bet she is going to get brain cancer from that thing.

Seriously - I am in it with you; study or no study...no phone for me. My husband even bought me the cutest phone in hopes that I would use it...just the other day- got a call...pressed the little red phone button...whoops - apparently that hangs up on people...who knew...don't even know how to use the stupid thing!
