I'm just a lurker here, having just received the link to your sister's blog two days ago. Every spare minute I've had I've been reading through it, just overwhelmed at the love that surrounds and her family.
While I'm not a Mormon, I believe in the strength of Jesus Christ, and my heart aches for their situation and children right now. I just want to let you know that all the way here in Germany, I'm praying.
Courtney...wishing we could be there tonight. Tony is out of town and I will be out in Grantsville for Cole's football game. We are releasing our balloons from there.
Tears for you this morning. And of course, prayers too.
I am a friend of Kelly McCalebs and came across your sisters blog months ago. I don't know her, but a couple of people besides myself here in Seattle have been following her condition this week.
A few of us are going to try to make it to the temple tonight to lift off the balloons toward heaven for them.
It has been touching, sad and a matter of prayer for our family all week.
Your family is amazing and inspirational to those of us who have found out about their experience.
I watched this video last night with tears streaming down my cheeks. It was so beautifully done Tara! The part that really got to me was the sweet and simple piano piece of "I am a Child of God" toward the end. To me, that song is the message of Stephanie's entire blog. She knows who she is and acts accordingly. I am also constantly touched by the way that she sees her sweet children and dear husband. I believe that she sees them exactly as our Father in Heaven does, and with this knowledge she treats them with such love and respect. She is an inspiration to me, and because of her example I try to be a better mother and a better wife each day.
Thank you Stephanie! Love and prayers coming from WA.
As a friend and reader of your sister through the blogging world. I must say thank you for continuing to keep us all updated on the beautiful Nienie. She has allowed us to become part of her life through her inspiring blog and now through yours we continue to peek even when things are tuffer than ever. I believe that your sharing and open-ness allows for us all to feel deeper love for her and your family and have more heartfelt prayers that will reach the heavens. I think of you all daily and send my love and prayers. Is there a way we can contact you (maybe via email) in regards to some gifts for Stephanies girls? Also just an idea if its not too personal but would love to see the beautifully decorated walls that family and friends have created for Stephanie and Christians rooms. Love from my way, also my family and I will be at Kiwanis Park : )
This Cincinnati Family is going to send our balloons a little early. I have a very long over due date with my Husband tonight-but in true Nie Nie fashion, I think she would approve. I will send pictures-our kids are so excited to do this.
I just heard about Stephanie and Christian today. I have many good memories about Stephanie and your family (including you as my sixth grade reading tutor). I'm so sorry for this hard time. Thank you for the updates on your blog. My husband and I will be at the balloon launch, and I've added a post with pictures (I hope that's OK) and the donate button to my blog.
CJane, I've been a silent reader of your and your sisters blog for several months. I just want to express my love and sympathy to you and your amazing family. These anonymous connections we make through the internet are a strange thing...but I'm thankful for it.
My little family will be participating in a balloon launch tonight to honor Nei Nei and Christian. May our hopes and prayers reach your loved ones soon.
oh my goodness!! it is 6am sunday morning.. I just got up and saw our photo on the front page!!! thank you so much!!
I hope all the other balloon sendoffs are going well...
I just swapped emails with nie nie a few weeks ago about her daughters mosquito bite problem and nie nie so thoughtfully replied and said she would love to visit me in Australia..
I have only had one contact with her and she was absolutely darling!!
i deleted my earlier comment to make a change to the email address for your balloon launch photos.
send them to BalloonsForNie@yahoo.com
***original message
It was a pleasure. the transitions and composition are simple,I wanted to get it up in time for tonight so I didn't make it super fancy. when I have time I'll finish it off with Balloon launch pictures.
anyone can email their pictures of their launch if they want them included and I'll add them to the video. BalloonsForNie@yahoo.com
A select few of the copies of the finished DVD will be for auction in Design Mom's "NieNie day" on Thursday. The money will go to Stephanie and Christian.
So be sure to send me your photos! And Happy Bidding! (begins Thursday)
The movie was absolutely perfect...just a perfect reminder of what a perfect family they are.
I just got my Sept. Ensign today & was reading the VT message & loved this & thought of NieNie instantly...
"Oh, that every girl and woman would have a testimony of her potential for eternal motherhood...Female roles did not begin on earth, and they do not end her. A woman who treasures motherhood on earth, will treasure motherhood in the world to come, and where her treasure is, there will her heart be also." -Julie B. Beck-Relief Society Gen. Pres.
i am a blog lurker and i live by seven peaks in provo. i just went outside and looked up to see all the beautiful balloons sailing up into the sky. it is just really touching.
i just sent an orange and green balloon heavenbound. :)
there hasn't been a day this week that i have not shed tears...i love nie-nie. i love the way this sweet girl has embraced life and found joy in the day to day wonder of it all.
i read this scripture this morning and it brought me great peace...Dear Steph and Christian..."the tender mercies of the Lord are over all those whom he hath chosen, because of their faith, to make them mighty even unto the power of deliverance." --1 Nephi 1:20
Released balloons here in Huntington Beach next to the ocean for Christian and Stephanie. A beautiful reminder of our Heavenly Father and the wonder of the world he has created. The video is inspirational and a reminder of how precious every moment truly is.
I posted several pictures of the Mesa Temple Balloon Launch for Christian and Stephanie on their facebook group update page. It was beautiful a beautiful sight. A word of prayer was given as hundreds of bright colored balloons lifted into the blue sky. They are very loved in Mesa.
Facebook Group Name: Stephanie & Christian Nielson Updates
Just a question...I know you said that Nie and Christian have nodded and wiggled their toes...Were you able to tell them about the amazing balloon launch in their honor? Are they doing ok? I hope they know how much they are loved. It could move mountains.
Hi. I'm a blurker. I heard about your sister and her husband through my sister who reads your blog and Stephanie's. And I am genuinely impressed and touched by the amount of love and even humor you manage to have under such difficult conditions. My prayers are with you. I hope they will make amazing recoveries.
The video is a beautiful tribute to Stephanie and Christian and their love for each other, their children and their extended families. The pictures made me smile and cry for her. Our family loves her so much. Thank you for the sweet video of pictures. We love Stephanie and Christian and their children so much. Our continued prayers are with you all. The balloon launching was very touching with so many there to show their love for their family. Love, Aunt Lisa
hello, my name is sam. my friend elisabeth houghton told me the story of christian and stephanie's accident and got me reading this blog. we wanted to do something, so we sent off balloons tonight with well-wishes notes tied to them. it was an incredible feeling as we let the balloons go, praying for christian and stephanie and their family. we let the balloons go in cedar city, utah, and as we did at about 6:15 pm, we saw many other balloons in the sky too. you have a lot of supporters down here in southern utah! and though we don't know you, we are hoping and wishing the best for you!
Courtney, I haven't seen you guys in years (in fact I think I saw you and stephanie together when she was about to have her first baby). I didn't know a bit about Stephanie as an adult or as a mother. I wish I had received a link to her blog long before. In the little time that I've read her blog (and yours), I have been inspired to be a much better mother and wife. I will enjoy my time with my children and husband more, and appreciate the joys of the mundane in every day life. Today I will even bake her plum upside down cake recipe in her honor.
We couldn't make it to kiwanis last night, but we watched the balloons (tiny specs) rise from our house. It was touching to know how many thoughts and prayers went off at the same time.
All the best to you and lucy as you take care of the children, and my heart and thoughts and prayers are with you all.
We let balloons go in Layton. We were so honored to do this for Nie and Mr.Nielsen and their darling. Thank you for the updates on this sweet, sweet family. Our prayers continue for all of you. I've posted the lift off on our blog.

I have been reading your blog for a while now, and I've come to love you and your family. I am praying for everyone, to get well, to have peace, to make it through, and so much more. May God bless you in this time of need.
And if possible, put that amazing video back online? I've been sharing it with others to help rouse them to the cause too.
Hi I am c jane (Courtney). This blog was originally created as proof that I was taking all the advice to "enjoy it" while in the throes of fertility challenges. When my son, The Chief, was conceived I decided to keep writing anyway. Then, my sister Nie Nie and her husband were in a private plane crash (August 16, 2008) and are now trying to recover from very critical burns. I blog for donations on their behalf. You can donate by clicking the "donate to Nie" button down below. Now, more than ever I believe in the blogging community and hope to see the day when my sister can enjoy it again too.
