Book Release Party & Nie Fundraiser (Will I See You There?)

Press Release:
Get out your party boots and your kleenex! One week from today is the
The Mother in Me Book Release Party and Nie Fundraiser!
On Saturday, October 18, a dozen contributing authors to The Mother in Me--including c jane herself--will be frolicking from 2-4 p.m..at the Deseret Bookstore in the University Mall, located in Orem, Utah.

Come and enjoy great food, great stories, great poetry, great prizes, great company, and great food (oh, and great food). All royalties from sales of The Mother in Me that day will be donated to the Stephanie and Christian Nielson Recovery Fund.

If distance or other conflicts will prevent you from attending our IRL fundraising party, don't fret! You can participate online by purchasing copies of The Mother in Me on Deseret Book's website anytime on Saturday, October 18. (Note: this fundraiser does not include purchases made through Amazon.com.)

Stephanie has gained many admirers for her thoughtful, poignant daily celebration of motherhood--not only the fun parts, but also the hard parts. Stephanie knows that there's beauty to be found in all aspects of mothering, and that the tough stuff can work much good in our lives and hearts--if we let it. This realistic yet uplifting perspective is at the very center of the Mother in Me, a collection of prose and poetry written by 28 mothers of young children. As a group of authors and friends, we decided there was no better way to help Stephanie than by celebrating motherhood together. Please join with us!

Wow! The first comment? I really wish that I could be there, but can't travel across the country right now...so I guess I will have to go to the website! The book sounds lovely, and I am thinking of giving it to my Mom for her birthday...

I do wish it came with all the lovely food, though----I would have enjoyed that...too much.

I instantly thought of you, Courtney, when I saw this behind the counter at my local church bookstore. I am very glad I decided to hold off buying it, because now I can get it from the website and help Stephanie out.

I hope the sale ends up being a HUGE Win!

I don't know you or your family ( I know, you hear that all the time), but I have been so impressed by your eloquence, and by the courage and grace you have shown during this difficult time. I always feel so uplifted when I read your blog, and I appreciate you taking the time to share your insights with us.

I started reading your blog, as well as Stephanie's, after I heard about the Nielsons and the plane crash. Both you and Stephanie are so very inspiring and remind me of how proud I am to be a wife and mother. Looking forward to puchasing and reading the book.

What if we buy it at a different Deseret Book location (i.e. Seattle)? It'd be fun to meet other Nie supporters there and buy our books together or somethin'. Will the proceeds still go to the Nie Recovery Fund?

Bel said...

I would love to come. Although a little hard to get to from Australia.
I will purchase on line x

Will you remind us on the 18th,please? I'm sure I'll forget to do it on that day if I don't have a reminder, and I really want to get the book and contribute to the recovery fund. Thanks!

Hi; First of all I just want to say that I like the reminder idea... I live in Provo and plan to be to the book premier... Second My name is Marilla and we have met, but you may not remember... I was one of the extras the day you and your family met with Elder and Sister Holland. I hope that was ok with your family... What a testimony builder that experience was. It is nice to recognize the hand of the Lord in our lives, DAILY. Anyways I finally got a link to your and your sisters blogs. This is such inspirational stuff! I love the mug idea and so many other ideas your family suggests. My family and I have been praying for you all. See you soon, Saturday the 18th. Feel free to check out our blog, if you ever have any free time. leishmanboysfamily.blogspot.com

Hi Courtney,

I just stumbled across your blog today. I am so sorry to hear about your sister and brother-in-law... I will be praying for their recovery.

Is there a website like a Carepages page or a CaringBridge page to monitor their progress?

God bless you all & take care,
Janna K

Hello Courtney. I found your blog a few days ago.... in fact, I found your sisiter's blog first, through the blog SouleMama.
The book, the mother in me, is one of my wish list! Unfortunetly I can't come to the event... I live waaaaaaay up in north, but I am going to order from the website!
I have sent e-mail about the event to my friends and hopefully they will spread the words to someone else.....

I have started reading yours and your sister, Stephanie's blog for only a few days but I have been inspired by both of you and you both reminded me how lucky to be a mother, a wife and have a family.

My prayer remain with you and your family...

Lucky Red Hen, copies of The Mother in Me bought in any Deseret Book store on 10-18 will count for the fundraiser, no matter what the location.

Thanks to those of you who are spreading the word to friends and family! We want BIG sales numbers on 10-18 so we can make a generous contribution to the Nie Recovery fund.

Hi Courtney,
This is Rachel (Snell) Garcia. I don't know if you remember me from Junior high? I was introduced to your sister's blog a while ago and have been following it. I'm sure my thoughts are nothing new, but I wanted to tell you how inspiring her site is, and yours as well. I'm out of state right now, but I'm going to send my mom and sisters to the book release and make them get a copy for me. Blessings to you for all you do, and all of your family's wonderful attitude. I do remember that you always had a big smile and nice things to say. My prayers are with you and your family.
