You've Got a Friend in Me

video

In former days,
Chup and I used to call Steph and ask her to put Ollie on the phone. We liked to hear him sing that old Toy Story classic "You've Got a Friend in Me." He'd always oblige, and you know what? I really like children who perform musical theater on demand. That is my sorta kid.

In this video though, I cramp Ollie's style by throwing in my own lines of lyrics after it appears that Ollie's singing is derailed and shortly stalled.

So I sing: If ever you're down/ I'll be in town. (Notice the wink!)

To which Ollie emphatically corrects: No, it doesn't do town.

Me: There's no town?

Ollie: This from Buzz.

Then, The Chief: Waaaa. Waaaa. Waa.

Ooh, I am never the first to comment. Love the video - I will now have that song stuck in my head for the next day - but it's a good song.

Praying for you all in Alaska! (Although I can't see Russia from my house...) L

I think the Chief was just upset that the camera wasn't on him and that he didn't have a set of pipes as refined as Ollies!

That is so sweet. Reminds me of my own little Toy Story obsessed boy. So sweet :)

I LOVE the video!! More, please! So cute! I was thinking of your family during general Conference--how did you like Uchdorf (sp?) and Holland's talks? Thanks for taking the time to keep us posted on your blogs!

Thought of you during conference. I hope you know how you've got lots of friends in all of us. Even in town.

O-OH! The Chief better watch out! (She likes kids who perform musical theatre on demand!!!) Run while you still can! (Okay, hold that thought until you learn to walk!)

I love the video!I was also wondering if you would post Nie Nie: on being proud. This is one of my favorite post. It's very inspirational and I think it gives hope to the world on how perfect things could be. Also I think it is an excellent example for the younger generation who sometimes feels you must fit in by doing things you normally wouldn't. I'm not a mormon, but I do wish that my parent's would of instilled some of the values that led Stephanie to be such a great Woman, Christian, and Mother onto me. I'm only hoping after reading her blog that I can find those ways that I have lacked knowing and instill them into my own children's upbringing! Thank you.... Jessica Harrell, Happy mother of one and wife.

Our 9 yr old boy went through 4 Buzz Lightyears. One died as we were shopping in Linens'nThings when my son made Buzz fly. Buzz hit the ground and his head came off. Anyway, the 4th Buzz is still around, tattered and loved.
Our 16 month old just watched Toy Story for the first time last week. I think he'll be another fan. What a great movie.
Great video. I love the lyric correction. Too fun!

(and okay fine you're right: i wasn't trying to help her. i was trying to get the attention back on me.)

I feel like I've know the kids forever since I've been reading your sis's blog for so long and to hear Ollies little voice, what a treat!!! Ok now you have to do a video of Gigs whistling and maybe the girls doing something cute.

Thank you for posting the video. It just makes me pray for your sister and husband more because they so need to finish raising this precious gift from God! Thank you also for keeping up your sister's blog and your blog as well. I can only imagine how tiring it must all be...doing the blogs as well as taking care of five young children and dealing with the emotional stress of it all. I so enjoy reading both of your posts. You both are such amazing writers.
Blessings and love from Alabama!

My 2 year old heard the crooning from my computer as she passed through the kitchen, and insisted that she be allowed to watch along.

"Oh. That's my friend!" She declared. :)

Thank you so much for sharing this moment of your life.

I was wondering if Christian is able to speak with his children yet? I sure hope so. I feel a little guilty being a part of your lives when they cannot.

Hi,
This is the first time I have commented. But I think of you all everyday. Stephanie has changed my life, by simply being Nienie. She has inspired me to be a better mother & a more devoted wife. I am so thankful for the insight into her life & miss her daily musings. She is a beautiful role model to wives & mothers everywhere & I for one am committed to being the best I can be. So thank you to your beautiful family, you are all a shining example of faith, family, love and friendship. Please post the one about Nienies daily menu in the life of a vegetarian. I loved it & it inspired me to go meat free.
Thank you, Niki, mom of 4, Perth Wetsern Australia

I love the way his face changes so emphatically when you sing the wrong thing.

P.S. Thanks for all the posts referring to Provo Bakery. We were in Provo (headed to Conference) and stopped in. The donut I had was the best don't I've EVER eaten. They were out of sugar cookies but my husband swears it'll his kind of sugar cookie - he could tell because of the snickerdoodle he ordered. THANKS.
