This week has been devoted to cleaning and organizing Retro House. No corner is left cobweb -ed, no chip disaster un-vacuumed. I am gearing up for the decorating business of this time of the year. There is even a open area in my front room for a Christmas tree. And yes, I am listening to Kozy's Christmas tunes on my radio. This year we are starting early. This year we are going to hoot and celebrate these holidays right up until January second. (So help me.) (SO HELP ME!)
What was I saying?
Right. This week I've been re-evaluating all the stuff that occupies my square footage for which I pay a mortgage. I mean, Chup actually makes the money, but I write the check. I wonder about other wives who have husbands who head up the household budget. If I let my Chup pay the bills I know that they will be paid . . . eventually. After the bill collectors come knocking on my painted-green door. I've never dealt with a bill collector, but I have no intention of . . .
What was I saying?
Chup has a lot of stuff. Bikes, trikes and rockets. Jackets, brackets, tennis rackets. Snow boards, skate boards and games for when you're bored. Chup has a hard time with seeing his stuff in garbage cans. He has no time for e-bay, Craig's list or--heaven forbid--a yard sale. So his stuff becomes part of the furniture and loafs off my weekly dusting. And I love him for it.
But today I almost lost my ability to stay calm in the face of the piles I desired to organize. Tools, camping gear and bitty jars of Tabasco sauce (and the like) were starting to impede my heaven-bound housekeeping. Little happy trails of my husband everywhere I looked.
So I called him at work.
"Your stuff is getting in my way." I fumed.
"Sorry." He replied quietly.
I really hate it when he says "sorry" so easily. The fight is over before it starts. All of my fire and righteous glory goes nowhere. Most of all, I just feel stupid for getting so worked up.
After we hung up I sat on the floor and thought about all of Chup's goods posted around the house. How all of his contraptions have come in handy lately. He's built swings out of rock climbing gear, slip-n-slides out of saved plastic sheets and tether ball at Jane's insistence.
Then I remembered the night before Halloween when we were in bed discussing how we were going to ensure that Claire and Jane had the best costumes in the whole school. (Competitive parenting! Try it!)
"You know what?" Chup said sitting straight up in bed. "Somewhere I have my make-up kit."
In Chup's former life he was a stage actor (before he found film acting so fascinating). When he did theatrics he invested in his own make-up kit. Lest he had to share blush with one of the acne-infested under studies.
Am I still writing this post?
In two minutes Chup had located his kit and returned to bed.
"This is going to be awesome." He told me. And the next morning we woke the girls extra early for their seven am make-up call.
And it was awesome:
I guess this is the part of the post where I sum up a good moral about how Chup's stuff makes our lives better. But whatever.

161 Pieces of Opinion:
Those are excellent makeup jobs.
I'd keep the junk around too.
It will probably come in handy.
If you can stand it.
(But you're a better woman than I am!)
lol. it's bittersweet isn't it? :)
I betcha they won!! Those are awesome!
Awesome. Just that. Love your writing. Am addicted to the enchantment that is your life; through sorrow and singing. God bless.
The girls look AWESOME!! You have inspired me to put on Christmas music tomorrow. I have been holding off waiting for it to feel like Christmas time, but let's face it...I live in Florida...I make the season, not the weather!
I'm always completely pulled in by your eloquent writing style. I swear, you could write about taking out the trash and make it sound like a meaningful experience. You've got talent and I love it.
oh yeah - the too quick I'm sorry - especially the quiet "I'm sorry" mann - and then mannn I'm kinda dumb. I do that all the time!
So basically you just really made me smile. You really have a way of spinning things in a good way! I love it.
And I love that make-up job - soooo cute!!! (your little sidetracks were hysterical too!!)
Way to have your lights up, neighbor! I'm alternately impressed and threatened by you.
good one. wish i knew ya in real life.
so tired. goodnight.
Oh my goodness those pictures are adorable. I am very impressed with Chup's handiwork. Well, both of your handiwork, I imagine.
LOVE those faces!! He did an awesome job...I'll bet they were the best in the school. The girls are obviously in very capable hands!
I have to say, I'm with Chup in the stuff department...especially creative stuff...you just need stuff already on hand when inspiration strikes!
That makeup job is AWESOME! GO CHUP!
I know how you feel. My husband has crap everywhere I look, and sometimes it is so useful. Which is so annoying. I really wish it was useless so I could say, "I'm throwing all of this useless crap away" and reclaim our house.
Also, you guys have wicked halloween-makeup skills. Did they win the real or imagined contest?
PHENOMENAL.
What a great post, and what a tribute to your other half. Actually, what a tribute to both of you!
that was a treat.
ohhhh! the girls look AMAZING! i was wondering what they were for halloween... and claire's expression is PRICELESS!
as for your question about husbands and bills. NO. WAY. would never get paid and i would be bff with the collections agency, yeesh! lol, gotta love em :)
i've been spying on your blog/life for some time now and have kept your family in my prayers. i am finally breaking my silence and commenting - this post is adorable. chup did a fantastic job on their make up!
Everyday I think, "this is my favorite post." The best part is I know I will keep feeling that way and I get to look again tomorrow. You work magic with words.
Oh my! I love those costumes. Great make-up job. Bless you for sharing so much of your lives. Just reading what is going in your neck of the woods inspires me here in California. Thanks for all you do.
With Love,
A Stranger Who Cares
When I was little girl my mother took theater classes at the local community college. She fell in love with theatrical make-up, and became the "Make-up Lady". I literally grew up back stage at that college, and watched my mother do all the actors faces for each production. When she passed away I happily took home both of her make-up kits and continue to store them to this day. Like Chup, I have pulled it out for Halloween many times. Bravo Chup! The girls looked fantastic! (Because we all know that sometimes it's very beneficial to stroke the egos of our men!)
I love their costumes!
Man... that Chup of yours, huh?! He's a jack of all trades! I have no doubt they were the best dressed!
so cute!
Okay, that swing is just AWESOME! I want my hubby to make one and the girls makeup...AMAZING! Stephanie is going to be proud when she sees this post...seriously...good job CHUP! And good job cjane for putting up with the stuff.
I have been married to someone who needs spare parts of this-that-and-the-other-thing for just-in-case situations for 25+ years. I go through periods of wanting to through it all out but, try to remember all the times they have come in handy. Fortunately, our basement and garage are large --although many of the items "are just to precious to go in there". As difficult as this time is for Clare and Jane they will never forget the love and fun that they have had with you and Chup. You are an incredible Aunt...and writer.
I completely relate. You should see our garage although I think I threw away the old crusty make-up kit.
And I write the checks too. :)
Yeah Chup. He's a keeper.
aww they do look awesome, I am loving your last few posts, heck i love all your posts but for some reason i have really loved the last few :)
LOL! Okay, I'm a lurker but just had to comment. I can totally relate. This one had my eyes a' waterin'. Thank you!
I laughed and laughed at this post- it sounds so much like my husband and me. Why does he feel the need to keep EVERYTHING?! It is a constant battle to keep him from keeping his hot sauce on my counter, which is where he thinks it should go. And, I also pay all of the bills. (he makes the money, I write the checks.) I am not sure if he would ever, ever remember.
Glad to see that all of this JUNK my baby and I are drowning in may come in handy some day!!
Keep up the beautiful writing!
My favorite part about reading your blog is watching how fast all the comments are posted. It's like we are all waiting, very impatiently, for your next post. I love the costumes. If only all the stuff my husband kept was so useful.
this is definitely one of my all-time fav posts...so funny.
I love your wit! Long live sarcasim!
The biggest fight my husband and I have had in the past month was all about me trying to organize our small house to use the space more effectively, and how it's impossible to organize AROUND him and that he had to CLEAN OUT his stuff too. So, I must say I completely understand your desire and your frustration. But then, my husband doesn't have make-up or the ability to create such awesomely designed faces for Halloween!!! He sure has a talent...they look incredible, I must say! (But I promise I'm still on your side!)
That's really, really fun. And you know- saving stuff DOES come in handy : ) I know NIE will just LOVE those costumes : )
Sooooooooo cute!
What a good man. I love it! I've been following your blog for a few months. So touching and inspiring. My heart goes out to you and your wonderful family, and many prayers. Your family's tragic story has helped me thru my own tragic family story. I'm so grateful that you've blogged about it. It's made a difference in my life and I'm sure a thousand others. Thanks.
hahahaha! I'm the same way. Our office is the catch all room and I have a few bins of "stuff" I might need one day. It drives me crazy because I have the desire to be organized and tidy but I don't want to throw it all out. It's a catch 22 I tell ya!
I love the makeup. You guys rock!!!
If you were regulary breathing the same oxygen as me you would know I often say and think odd things. I've been missing Nie's Halloween posts, which is odd because I never knew her before the accident. Thank you for posting the best costumes in their school for us to enjoy. I love the happy face of a child dressed up for a day of indulgence.
I must say, the scales between gratitude and insanity are often teetering around here too.
I've been working on the quilts for threads of love, when I have pictures of Claire's laid out I will post a link so she can see how awesome it is! Jane's will be next. My girls ask so many questions about them, they say this is for our friend...
Oh, gracious. That is GORGEOUS.
Those pictures are out-and-out classics. Hands down. The best costumes I'VE ever seen.
i have some junk floating around my garage, including 3 boxes of halloween costumes and makeup....nothing that ever looked that good though. drat! maybe with california going to heck in a handbasket we'll end up in utah sooner than later and i'll bring my 3 girls over for makeup lessons with chup. or at least he can deal with it once a year and i won't have to poke mascara wands in little eye balls. oh and fwiw i pay the bills with $ i do not earn either. i think thats becoming the norm. i love you guys.
Those makeups jobs are TO DIE FOR! Awesome!
And, another Chup post. Love it! I just love when your adoration of your husband comes shining through in between those oh-so-clever lines of yours.
Thanks for the smile.
I just read the last few days entries, I've been too busy with the rest of my life to get to the computer (my sister in law had brain surgery last week, I've been helping care for her) and I have to ask, have I told you lately that I love you? I just love you Courtney. I wish you were in my ward, or my town, I'd come over, unannounced, cause we'd be tight like that, and we'd hang out w/ "your" four kids and my four kids running around all over and we'd boob about some stuff and we'd laugh about some stuff and inspire each other about some stuff and... well I think you get the idea. Anyway, I am adoring you and still praying for you and your wonderful family.
love,
beth, again
WOW, he is good!!! How adorable. It puts life in perspective... I was reading and thinking, yep, there is a pile like that over here, and one that is camoflauged over there. C'est la vie.
love love love the make up!
Wow... GREAT job on the makeup Chup!
I hate my husband's stuff lying around the house day after day! I grew up in a VERY cluttered house and I de-junk every month. my husband has learned after 2 years of marriage, if he wants it in a week, he needs to pick it up! It's only taken him 2 years!!
The girls do look great! You have more patients than I!
love your writing style.
& great makeup.
HILLARIOUS! Love Claire's expression. This post was classic. My favorite line was the last. I want to know what the Chief was for Halloween?!
Wow, this post sounds a lot like one I would write... but prettier. ;) Chup did an A-mazing job with the makeup!
You need a den! I have a similar problem - trust me - your son will love all his dad's 'stuff'. My man and boy spend a good deal of time and effort filling the house with old bits of wood, broken computer parts, fishing gear, camping stuff, modroc (to build mini landscapes for the train set), train sets (in bits all over the dining room), model aircraft (half made because the weather was good enough for fishing)..... believe me when I say you are going to be outnumbered. Make the very most of having girls in the house - get all your pink fix now because one day you'll be surrounded by the grease and clobber that is Boys Own stuff! And, like me, you will look at them, heads together, busy building some invention, and MELT with love! Then you'll escape to your very own little girly den haven because by then you'll have it sorted! Meanwhile have you room for a big shed?! t.x (LOVE the halloween bride!)
I'm sorry - I've been resisting until now - but I have to sing along.. Deep breath and sing it now...
"...you would moderate too if it happened to youououuuuuuu!"
Oh that feels better! t.x
at least you know at least some of the stuff will be put to good use. the girls really looked awesome!
haha! They look AMAZING! I think Chup found his calling...
Awwww....see that Chup is a keeper!!
Wonderful.....
Now, YOU made me laugh and smile bright and early this morning!!
You know Stephanie & Christian are so proud of you and Chup for the fun Halloween for the girls!!
Have a wonderful day,
Karen in West, Texas
what a fun aunt and uncle you both are! I love how you tell a story; such talent.
awesome costumes and make-up, of course!
Thank you for this post, it sure made me look at little squabbles differently, and those ARE the best cosutmes I've ever seen! Awesome,I'm sure everyone had a great time too!
Baaahaaaa! You are singing my song! My husband loves to leave piles of stuff around the house and my dad was an avid collector of years of stuff that he 'might use one day'. Arrrrghhh! It's a never ending pit of clutter! Every now and then I go on a chuck binge but mostly I just breathe deep and pray for patience! Lol!
courtney, do you and chup want to be my parents? i'll help pay the mortgage and i won't bring any extra stuff into the deal.
I love to read your blog.. After finding your site I have become addicted (don't worry, I'm not a stalker and I live way far away in NY state anyway!!) I just have to tell you how much I love your writing.. sometimes I laugh, sometimes I cry.. but you always make me feel something when I read your words. You are an amazing writer..and wife.. and sister.. and aunt-mama... just amazing.
Is Oliver back with you yet?
The fact that Chup could put his hands on his make up kit in under 2 minutes is a TESTAMENT to its organization. If looking at it is driving you nuts, maybe get Chup some lockers for Christmas? PB has some cute ones.
I am Chup...but so is my husband ;) It makes for some hairy finances at times. It's not that we don't have the money- it's that we need a secetary to take care of the bills! We love automatic buill-pay!
I bet the girls were thrilled with their make-up compliments of Uncle Chup.
Loved the little man's eyebrows yesterday too :)
I am laughing b/c my husband says "Sorry" and defuses all my righteous indignation ALL THE TIME! So I know exactly what you mean.
I love his makeup job on Claire and Jane. My goodness, he takes the girls out on dates AND gets them awesomely ghoulish and cute for Halloween?? He's a keeper.
But then, so are you!!
(LOVED the picture of the Chief yesterday!)
I'm glad to hear someone else is itching to listen to holiday music too.
Have a great weekend!!
What great parents you two are. You are building such wonderful memories for these children during such a hard time in their lives. You two are a great blessing for your family.
chup = rory.
we live parallel lives. but with less kids over here.
oh my goodness another SMILE thanks Coutney! ~Donna
I love competitive parenting-I hate to admit it. I'm addicted to it actually. I've tried to quit, but maybe I need a support group-competitive parents anonymous???
Love the costumes!!!
My hubby has tons of "gear" as well! Luckily, he put down A LOT of plywood in the attic and made a storage room up there than he can sit it an admire his "gear." I must confess I'm the one with girly stuff all over the inside of our house. Sewing projects...tatting projects...papers that need to be filed.... Oh, the stuff we tolerate with each other. In our case, I think Hubby is the more tolerant one. Lucky me! :0
They did win, didn't they? :-) They'd have gotten MY vote!
That Chup, he's a keeper. When you two work out the age old dilemna of what to do with a man's junk, you let us know. Personally I like to stash my mans junk in pretty canisters, for two reasons. 1) the clutter disappears 2) it really sticks it to the man to see his stuff in a dainty flower canister. HA HA HA
I love your post today. It is true in my house also. My husband is awesome, but the clutter can get overwhelming. I try to be a good sport, but sometimes you just have to complain a little. Thanks for the smile and the reminder that it is OK, both ways.
Love the Chup.
You sure make me feel better about my clutter. Notice I say my. It's not my husbands, but I won't tell him that!
you guys are so cool...xo
I don't know ya,
but I do love ya.
Really.
So maybe you're thinking he needs to just keep all his stuff in one place? How about shoot for decorating it too?
The girls look awesome! You're good to have a picture. I still have no picture of my 9 yr old. BAD MOTHER that I am. I'll have him put it back on one of these days for a quick photo.
I used to always just throw things away when they started to clutter up my space. Now I just reorganize the closet to fit them it. Or I shove them under the bed. I haven't looked under our bed in ages...
Our husbands sound like two of a kind. I finally bought him some organizers that I could live with and said, this is for camping or papers or sports...it must fit or go!
Then again my hubby doesnt know where anything is so at least Chup knows where his stuff is in his stuff!
I second that emotion....
CJane,
You Rock
Much Love,
Me
Oh my, I can commiserate with the "stuffness" AND it's major interference with an early attack of the Christmas spirit. Do you know of freecycle? It's an amazing online community, organized locally, to help people pass on things they no longer need, lest they should become trash. I have given (dehumidifier) and gotten (medela breast pump) some pretty stellar things from freecycle! The very spirit of it seems so in tune with your family's sense of generosity and shared ownership!
And PS...my husband and I both work, but I STILL can't handle the bills. Gives me too much anxiety. He does all of it, but no bill collectors yet!
They look fabulous!!!! Chup sounds wonderful!
oh i just love it! haha. those 2 are just precious. & the skateboard/climbing gear swing is pretty awesome too.
OMG ~ those are great!
I just adore you! Your beautiful ramblings of daily life make me so happy and always start off my day with a smile.
I just Love you !
Maybe it just about organizing the stuff. You certainly want to keep what makes Chup the Chup that he is.
AWESOME makeup! The girls definitely had the best costumes at school, right? what did they think about them?
I Just Love You !
We are a bit of junk hoarders too. Ok, I am, I will admit it ;) There has to be one hoarder and one not hoarder to keep the balance in the universe though ;)
My kids love Claire and Jane's costumes. They keep asking to look at them!
I was just thinking...what a blessing they are to you two. And what a blessing you are to the two of you.
Beautiful makeup jobs - those children are precious! Now my hubby and I could learn a lesson from you and Chup; my hubby has his "treasures" in every room, and my patience with his collections is in stark contrast to his desire to keep collecting! =)
I just love you. Sorry, but I do. I love Utah too. I did my state project on Utah in 5th grade, so I feel like I'm an expert on it. An expert with a 5th grade education, but an expert. (By the way, I did not drop out after 5th grade. I graduated from college ... just being funny ... or not). OK. Bye.
Wow- he IS talented with that makeup kit. I'll bet those girls LOVED their looks, and they will enjoy every single photo that you took. Great work, you two.
I'm thinking, maybe clear plastic storage bins and a gorilla rack for Chup's stuff? It's obviously going to come in handy. It's part of his Life Kit.
God bless you.
I think Chup wants a couple of little girls for his very own -- a couple Daddy's Girls. Good thing you have Claire and Jane around right now!! SO CUTE!
It also sounds like your house could be an eBay fest. You may have several hundred dollars of good stuff lying around to sell.
My husband is the exact same way. Amen Sista!
I hate when they apologize first! How can they be so calm? I guess that's why we fit so well together...
Mr. Chup did an EXCELLENT job with the girls makeup--very professional looking!! I'm sure Nie and Christian will soon look back at these days so lovingly documented and photographed by you, Courtney and they will also be so very touched. You're doing awesome! Love and prayers to you and yours, Lori
Jane is the most gorgeous little geisha I've ever seen!
Courtney,
Did you go to the CMM? Were you with President Froerer? I think we may have been there at the same time. I served in St. Lambert and Westmount. Were you there?
I read your blog daily, and I LOVE it. But, never, have I related so much to you until now! I continue to pray for strength for you and your family.
Oh how I can relate! My husband has six, that's right, SIX old cars lining our driveway. On top of his car obsession, he paints, he's a fly-fisherman who ties his own flies, and a musician. Don't ask me how all this fits into a house that's just over 800 square feet! Oh, but I do love him when he comes in from what I thought was two hours spent working on one of his classic cars, with a pair of handmade earrings "just because." Cheers!
Will Chup do my make-up for Halloween next year? And maybe every day in between now and then?
Awesome costumes! This makes me miss Utah--it is not politically correct to wear costumes to school in my school district. Instead, they have a "Fall party"-- no halloween related goods allowed.
I can relate to the bill paying thing. I paid them for 13 years-- and would get frustrated that my husband didn't care or know about our finances (I guess he trusted me). But, after my third child was born with disabilities- it started to be too much for me to do everything, and he took over. He is doing an awesome job and now I can read blogs all day. Just kidding (sort of).
P.S.- I've been reading yours and Stephanie's blog for almost two years now, and this is my first comment. I love you both, and cried on and off for hours the night I found out about the accident. My husband woke up and asked what was wrong, and I had to explain that I was crying for a family I've never met.
i feel your pain cjane. so feel your pain. about the stuff and the bills ; )
That is so cute!
You're all one heck of a family, I'll tell ya!!
Holy Cuteness Batman! He did a great job!
I often give things away or throw them out only to bemoan my actions later. We just don't have room for "stuff". *sigh*
I'm glad Chup has had those things around to make life better this last while.
They must have had the BEST costumes at school.
You are such a great writer. You make your husband having lots of stuff funny. My husband has a lot of stuff as well but there is just nothing funny about it. More frustrating than anything!
So much talent in one household!
Loved this post. Every rambling word of it. (smiles)
I am very impressed with Chups makeup skills. Mad makeup skills. He could have a little side Halloween biz and have kids lined up down the street waiting for their faces turn as a blank Chup canvas. But then that would pose a problem wouldn't it? Your kids wouldn't have the BEST costume anymore. Hmmmm.
I love the pictures. Those girls have enchanting personalities. One of the things I loved about Nie Nie's blog is that Jane especially was always dressed up.
By the way...did Claire get her wish to talk to her mom on Halloween? How was her birthday?
p.s. Someone should start a Nie Nie line of stuff... you know, like scrapbooking stuff, craft projects, mommy planners, etc. in Nie's vintage style. It'd be a hit I"m sure!
My hubby keeps "stuff" around too...oh it can get on my nerves, but sometimes...yeah...it does come in handy (but I don't know that I would tell him that on a regular basis hehe
whow 107 comments already and most of them said already what i feel i want to say: thank you for sharing your thoughts with the world, it lights up my day! i am keeping your family in my prayers, love from germany!
Very very cute pictures...love the make up jobs!

Amazing makeup jobs! Isn't it funny how you keep "stuff" and it sometimes comes in handy just in the knick of time!
Your writing makes me want to read more and more from you, I love it!
I know this is your blog but can we have a C & S update soon? Pretty puh-lease!
WoW!
Will you send him my way?
When you can't see those freckles, Jane looks SOOO much like Christian!
HILERIOUS!!!!!
I imagine that there are times where being a SINGLE Mom has its plus sides!... and then there times when it doesn't. lol
Those have GOT to be the cutest trick or treaters i have ever seen!
WTG Chup! Ü Awesome make-up jobs!! the girls look FABULOUS!
We/I LOVE LOVE LOVE this time of year. I am finding myself with my head spinning! How in the world did it get to be the middle of NOVEMBER already!???? The three of us get to 'go home' for Thanksgiving this year... and stay for a while. By the time we get back... it will already be December!!! and i am sure that will make the time go SO FAST! EEKS!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Ü
Do you have a garage? Hey, maybe invest in one of those storage sheds. Totally lifesaving.
My husband calls his junk his "resource pile" and laments that our tiny apartment can't fit more. Yes, we have bow drills under the kitchen table but I've drawn the line on tupperware containers of sand - they must go.
holy gaucamole!!! those are some freaky faces!
I can't wait to see pictures of the cleaned up/organized Retro house, with Christmas spirit scattered about.
I love the whatever at the end of your post. I know just how you feel.
Wait, I am the pack rat in our household, and my husband makes sure the bills are paid on time. He knows just how you feel!
LOVE the faces! Oh, and Chup's tendency to "keep in case" is genetic (I know first hand - my hope is it is a recessive trait!).
Wowzers! Great job with the make-up. Love their costumes.
Wow! That looks awesome! My guess is that they won! Haha! It seems as though when you get rid of something that has been sitting without any use for a period of time....the day after you get rid of it (even though you hadn't used it for quite some time)you now want it.
I do believe that Chup must be a keeper! What a fabulous job on the girls' make-up!
Discovered your blog yesterday. I love you all already.
Beautiful.
LOL, are we married to the same person??? I always call my husband "the snail" because he leaves a trail of something everywhere he goes.
You guys amke an awesome team!!!!

Wow! Fantastic make-up! Give Chup an extra hug. He deserves it. I know what you mean about STUFF though, it can make one so crazy it is hard to breathe. So, you reminded me, I guess I'll go start cleaning and decorating right now!
Seriously nice art work! p.s. Bless you and your family-
What a neat uncle for them to have, they look great!
FUNNY!
Saying sorry right from the start like that huh? That's a good idea - I've never heard of it. Maybe my husband & I should try that sometime. ;)
Those costumes rocked! Did the girls like them?
I read your blog & Nie Nie's like a book - and look forward to it everyday. Thank you!
You are creating so many special memories for your nieces & nephews during a very difficult time--what a blessing to have you & Chup in their lives when their mother isn't able to be there.
Ha! Ha! Hee! Hee! Snork!
That is a fabulous misery!
The girls look great! He did a really good job!
I wait until my husband is overseas, or on some training, and then I go through all the stuff (ie. his stuff) that's getting in the way. That way by the time he gets home and thinks about it I can honestly say I have no idea where it went....
Love this post....made me laugh out loud! We all feel the same way! Stuff gets in the way...and it is never ours!
You're a good sport, Courtney. What is it with husbands and STUFF?
Amazing makeup!
I love this post because my hubby has the same stuff too (well, not the make-up kit, but practically everything else.) When we got married 6 years ago, we started with an arrangement/agreement about stuff. I had complete reign of everything in the house. The garage was totally his. So when we unpacked, I stuck to this rule.
Over time, we had to make the exception of allowing my side which houses our Halloween, Christmas, etc. decorations, misc. pantry items, emergency preparedness toilet paper, and bottled water stuff.
Get lots of shelving and cabinets for the garage, then store all his goodies out there, neat and organized! Oh, and park his car in the drive. You really only need to keep your car in the garage because of the kids.
Maybe this could work for you two? Good luck!
Love this post. Love the photo's. Everytime I come to this site that's all I think about love, love, love, love - LOVE its great thanks Courtney you must of had GREAT parents because all their kids are GREAT. And their kids will be great also. Have a great night. :o) Perkylvs in Michigan
Hi Courtney,
I may have missed it but I am so curious to know what Chup is short for. Yes, you did rock my world the day you said it was pronounced "choup" rhymes w/ soup. We watch Scooby Doo Chupacabra movie- any reference there?
I love your writing too beyond the sentimental reasons, b/c you always surprise with some tart, on the mark comment i.e. competitive parenting, try it. Ha, loved that. Anyhow, more good wishes heading your way from Massachusetts.
Deb
Isn't that a man.
We gotta love them.
The girls look great.
the faces are awesome!
Holy cow- those are indeed the BEST costumes in the school! So I guess I am now suppose to start loving all the junk my hubs has around are cramped apartment...shoot! Well, I better wait for the day when one of his gadgets saves the day - then I can truly appreciate all his junk
What an artist! They looked so cute! Good job Chup!! You can probably feel the Christmas season coming easier than us Arizonans...I'm not sure if our summer is even over yet, it's still hot during the day! I was in the mall and they were already playing Christmas music, I thought to myself... it just doesn't feel like that time of year! Maybe I'll have to force it on myself by decorating and playing Christmas songs... and stay out of the warm sunny weather!
I love it!
I hear you when it comes to the snowboards and rockets and other male clutter taking over the house.I told my husband..fine, whatever, just hang it on the wall and make it look like art, that's my only rule~make it look like art otherwise it goes in the garage. So one of his snowboards graced our walls as as "sculpture piece" (before he wisely decided to sell it) and we have planes hanging down from every ceiling in the house. I remember hearing my husband proudly say that his wife "let him" hang whatever he wanted in the house. You may have to try that on Chup..you'll be his hero. But it also means that you'll never have a girly home and that you'll have to describe your decor as "ecletic". (Did I mention that we have a Cyclops model and piranha fish on top of our kitchen cabinets? Fortunately no one under 6',3" notices them).
I can relate to the competitive parenting bit when it comes to Halloween costumes..what 3 yr old wants to be Spiderman when you can be the best Bob Ross eeeever! The kids look great with their makeup:) Continuing to think of your family ~
:)

She is back ladies and gentleman!
It's so good to 'c jane enjoy it' again!
Great costumes!
You guys are sooo funny.
We are still praying for Stephanie and praising God for the good news so far.
our girls (3 & 5) love seeing pictures of Claire and Jane. Thanks for sharing ;-)
I began reading NieNie's blog in August, just before the accident. I don't know that I've missed one day checking your blog or reading her archives since then. Becoming a part of this blogosphere story has changed me in a few ways...too serious to say now.
I must know - was "So help me. SO HELP ME" a reference to "Monsters, Inc?" You know, Mike and Sully are pretending they are practicing for a play, and Mike says: "So help me, so help me, and cut. It's a work in progress." My husband and I always quote that, so I was just wondering...
LOVE your blog!!! You are a great writer and sister and mother. Thank you for sharing your story.
AWW so cute
Can we get an "I Love Mr. Chup" t-shirt? :)
HA hahahahaha!
*Snort*
ahem.
That's the secret of a good marriage! Being able to overlook all the little irritants and finding ways to appreciate your spouse. Instead of allowing all this friction and tension to sip into the marriage. You defuse it by finding the positives.
That's why I like your blog CJane and Stephanie's - you always have the ability to stay positive! And have a good sense of humor!
Ok...I'm going to stop blog stalking in silence and actually comment...I loved this post as usual, I find your writing very refreshing and I think that you are amazing! I wish I had as much patience with my husbands junk as you do! But I don't even have patience with my own junk...I found myself wishing I still had my old make up kit around this past Halloween! ;)
Awesome makeup job, uncle Chup!
Okay...i had to leave a second comment. I had to visit again to get another laugh! You have inspired my kids for next year!
I love your wandering posts.
And as a note: Why hurry stuff down on the 2nd? We call it Christmas until Epiphany around here, right down to wise men taking 12 days to cross our (not all *that* big) downstairs from the bay window to the hearth where the manger is.
Exception: is it a nice day in January? Get the lights down *immediately* before the weather changes.
Tell the girls (yet again I am sure) how AWESOME they looked on Halloween. And thanks for sharing the pictures!
Great makeup and expressions on the girls!
I hear you about the hubby-junk. We have a ton of it at our house, too. But darn it, if some of it isn't dang useful sometimes!!
Loved this post. I hate all the clutter of the Mr but there have been times when some of it has come in handy. But after many, many, many, many years it gets a tad too much. So be careful....
That'a awesome!!!
I could have a terrific make-up kit on hand, but I'd never be able to do such a great job! You gotta have TALENT for that!! Totally Awesome!!!
they get to dress up at your school? i'm so jealous!
