My dear dear friends. I simply must put a stop to the idea that I am pregnant. Actually, I am just working on a new blog layout which has made me feel all Italian inside.
I cannot believe their is only three comments, I always want to comment but never do because their are always like a bizillion comments. I Love your blog and read it daily. Thank you for being such a great light in my life.
I think that may be the last time you try posting in Italian!! Too funny. I got the touching up translation but was not certain if it was referring to your wonderful blog or if you if had brush in hand facing a wall of paneling!! Regardless a post in Italian is very spicy!
I'm guessing not everyone used your link to have the words translated? Can't wait for the new layout. Oh, and thanks for the link - now I can finally find out what my step-sisters quote on her blog means!!!
I thought the translation meant your site was under construction, noting the absence of ads etc. Then I started reading the first comments and I thought, Oh wow! I truly missed something and I really thought that I GET Cjane...Whew! Glad to know my first impressions were correct although if you'd love to throw a "prego" into your crazy vitamix, I wish you nothing but...privacy...:)
Funny thing about this post. My daughter is having a tough time with the German class she is taking online from BYU. Nobody at her school in our tiny town speaks German. I have been praying for some way to help her. And here you are, offering up a link to a translating site. Courtney, Heavenly Father has answered yet another prayer through you!
Maybe you better save the "prego" when you speak Italian on your future blog posts until you are actually ready to make an announcement!! Looks like several did their own free translation. I too pictured you with paintbrush in hand ready to cover the walls with paint, as if you have all the time in the world for spicy remodeling.
I thought congrats were in order too! Now I'm REALLY embarrassed though because I AM Italian and yet I obviously don't speak it! Goal for the New Year? Hmmm.... It would come in handy for any FUTURE Cjane announcements--IF they came in Italian lol! ANYWAYYY...congrats on the new layout! Lori
That is funny. It reminds me of a time when a friend of mine was trying to tell someone who spoke Spanish that she was embarrased that her Spanish wasn't so good and she said "embarazada" which actually means "pregnant".
That was a funny OOPS! The link would not work for me so I relied heavily on my experience with old Sophia Loren and Verna Lisi movies for the gist. Went to WordReference.com for the fine tuning, LOL. Have fun with your new Blog Face!
Just read all this weeks post. I just have to say one reason I come to you blog is because I always feel better when I leave. If this is the effect of you being self centered then by all means keep it up! Thanks for being you and sharing yourself with us.I know another long rambling comment sorry.
I'm not sure how anyone derived from that that you were pregnant, but I'm glad you explained :) Apparently, I'm a little slow here! Can't wait to see the new layout!
These comments are hilarious. It must be too early in the morning (here at least) because the pregnant thing never entered my head LOL. Can't wait to see the new layout
the angel's a bit scary! have you heard the saying - "the angels who fear to tread where fools rush in, used to be the fools who rushed in". I think that's a lovely thought. That even the most foolish of us have the chance to be angels one day! Of course you're already well on the way honey! No fooling about either! xxx I voted - WOW you're steaming ahead!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your new header. Very cute! and sort of appropriate in light of that comment you posted about saying you were self-centered....whatever. You are an angel cjane. Any one who has ever taken care of their siblings children knows that! It's no easy task. You are the kind of sister every woman wishes for
ahh the angel c jane is shining forth in all her glory to say "in your face" to all those who choose to be offended. I hope the background is nothing but a wall paper of your angelic image...
I busted a gut when your new page loaded... I love your wit, your dry humor, your pithy sarcasm. (and the design, by the way... it's fabulous) I'd love to see the reaction from that person who reprimanded you for the very thought that you were proclaiming "angel-ness"
the new layout is a little freaky deaky, but it is so funny because it is the epitome of your "selfishness" that's not really selfishness, just the love of talking about your wonderful life! which is what i love to do, too. i like the cjane with wings.
Ummm...so far I'm LOVING the new page!!! I love the header - beautiful! And...I love how you did not let any bad comment affect you or the way you write - you. are. awesome!
I want to put this as kindly as possible because I love your blog. I understand that the new header is supposed to be funny and ironic, but so many people (especially new readers) aren't going to get it and will probably take it the wrong way. Please reconsider?
Love your writing. Am in awe of what you have done these last few months. Don't know if you are looking for feedback on the header....if your not, feel free to delete this comment (as if you needed me to tell you that!)....not my cup of tea...not that it has to be mind you. It is after all your blog.
am I allowed to never have commented before and then comment twice on one post?...sorry, but the banner is soooo glorious. I just couldn't stay quiet. St. CJane you are too funny!
Can I just tell you that I am laughing so hard at your new header. In light of the recent "angel" comment controversy, it is hilarious. Well played my dear, well played.
Okay after reading some of the other comments I have to say.......It's her blog and she can do what she wants to...do what she wants to....do what she wants to...I love the Angel and I come here to read your blog for laughs and inspiration. Why are some of these comments giving you their opinion. I don't think the post was a "Tell me what you think" post. Hello...people! You ROCK courtney! I love reading your blog everyday...even if your header was a big picture of dog poo! I would still read it:)
hahahahahhaha! When I saw your new header I burst out laughing! That will show all those brats who don't get you! You're the greatest. I was just thinking how nice it would be to get little notes of inspiration everyday (kind of like in the My Turn on Earth and the notes fall from heaven?) and then I remembered I do! I get to read your blog everyday. Thanks for your last post, especially. I need to sit down and play more with the kids the way you and Nie do. Love you both of you angels!
I'm loving the new blog layout! But don't you think you are a little narssassistic?! Angels don't call themselves angels, you know!!! hahahahah! LOVE IT!
I get the concept and appreciate the tongue-in-cheek humor but, for me, the actual look of this banner is a little freaky and in some way almost unsettling.
I can't even put my finger on why, but I'm not quite liking the new design. That doesn't mean I won't still be reading the blog avidly, though!
I think you are fabulous. However I'm gonna have to agree with the freaky comment. Sorry, don't hate or be offended. It is funny though, but yikes. You're much prettier than that.
love the header - certainly gave me a little chuckle. Not knowing any Italian, I simply HAD to rush to the translation site to make sure I didn't say something a little bit silly!!! The thought did cross my mind that you surely deserved that blessing. I hope it happens whenever you're ready for it anyway. Does anyone really read or not read a blog because of the header???
I don't want you to publish this comment, just think about what others might be thinking.
The ulta-religious might find the banner bothersome because angels are emanations of a supreme diving being and we don't anoint ourselves to be angels. God decides who the angels are. Angels are supernatural (dead?). In light of what Nie Nie has been through, seeing yourself as an angel may seem a little creepy.
Finally, the beauty of you and Nie Nie is that you are angels and it goes unsaid. Self promoting yourself as an angel is fodder for the haters. Reconsider. Doesn't bother me, but I'm not a fundamentalist.
On a layout note, I liked the old two-column format. Love the snowflakes. I vote no on painting the birch paneling and YES on ripping down the wall paper.
In the end, you are wonderful. Do what your heart tells you.
I haven't been to your site for a while and at first the header was a little weird but after reading the history I get it. I think you are a breath of fresh air and would be an awesome friend. Keep on Truckin'!
The new blog pic of you with the angel wings is awesome!! I LOVE it! I love your blog! Prayers for Nie and her fam are always ongoing. I'm very excited about your website update. Amy from Michigan.
Your new banner is freaky! I can't look at it. If I hadn't found your blog through Nie's for updates, I would seriously have wondered what I had stumbled upon! I like your blog. I understand that the new header is supposed to be funny. But it is just scary.
Total turnoff.... and it's not just the header. Seems like you truly have let the "fame" go to your head-and lost sight of why we all started to read your blog in the first place. For the love of Nie-who was positvely loveable (without the self promoting) Continued prayers for Nie's family, but this is getting to be too much with you. It actally began when you first did an entry on some of your "favorite things" and compared yourself to Rosie (in jest) However, this self promoting was even done at a time when your sister was still fighting for her life and seemed so pointless. Now we get, vote for me on this, etc........ I do appreciate all the updates and did participate in auctions and such, but will continue to pray now from afar, no longer a loyal reader.
I totally agree with the self promoting comments. Annoying and seems almost like you've always been jealous of Nie and are now loving the spotlight? I too am turned off and will continue to pray-but no longer reading your blog. Liz
HAHAHAHAH I LOVE The new banner! You and I have the same humor. This is so something I'd do when told I was self centered. Totally hilarious. I love you cjane! :)
I guess you will have as many different comments as the post about letting the Chief cry it out at night. You are a brave one to walk on unknown waters. lol. I don't understand how so many don't realize you were blogging before the awful accident. Hmm. You sure do have a lot of annonymouse comments though.
Thumbs down with the "anonymous", negative comments guys! This is Cjane's blog and she can do what ever she wants! Go criticize your own blog. As you can see, there are many people that LOVE her new banner, and many people that love her blog just as it is.
It's like you are asking her to conform her blog to your blog or nie nie's blog and she is not you nor nie nie. She is cjane. Nie Nie and CJane are sisters but different.
And cjane is ever so entertaining to read! I love her writing!
Don't let these silly cowardly (hmmmm.... why are they are all anonymous?) comments go to your heart/head okay Courtney?
I am a HUGE fan of yours. The new header not so much a fan of. For me the picture of you looks almost as if it is meant to be you as an angel REALLY. How should I put this? Like you are not alive. I love the humor of it. Especially after the earlier posts. So, it is definitely not what it tries to convey. Just the picture itself is creepy looking. And you are one BEAUTIFUL woman.
We remain anonymous to prevent hate-spam on our blogs. To allow un-moderated comments is to invite open sharing of opinions, and that is what we are all doing. Just as you have the right to speak in favor of the header, we have the right to point out why we don't consider it to be in good taste.
I will continue to read the blog regardless of the header, but frankly, the entire blog layout and color scheme is in my opinion much less visually and symbolically appealing now than it was just yesterday. As long as Cjane voices no protest, I will express that opinion.
BWaaaHaaahahahahahahahaha!!! rolling on the floor, pounding my fists, kicking my feet, laughing till I get the hiccups! You without a doubt have the BEST sense of humor!!! When that image popped up on my screen I could not stop laughing. You're GREAT!! (and I hope ol' fussy britches has a cow when she sees it..hehe)
I am new to the blogging world. Yours is the first blog I read and I find myself here everyday. Mostly to find out about Stephanie but, also because I enjoy your writing. What I don't get - and this is not particular to your blog - is that the author of a blog puts herself out there and then invites comments. If the comments say "I love you" they get published. And if they say anything "negative" the person leaving the comment gets yelled out and told to go elsewhere...and the comments are usually deleted. (In fact I am guessing that the only reason that half of the comments on this particular post have been published is because while creating the new version of the blog someone forgot to click on the field that requires the moderator's approval before publishing). And then everyone is left with the illusion that everyone loves everything because those are the only comments that are published.
I LOVE it!!! And I have to comment on the "spiciness", too. I LOVE this word. Once when my husband and I went to a Mongolian place and I ordered (my fave) hot and sour soup to start, the waiter said (in a sly little tone), "Oh...you spicy lady!" We totally cracked up and now several years later we still use it all the time. Being a "spicy lady" is definitely a GOOD thing! Some people are bland...not capable of spice...so they can't get it. Don't change a thing, spicy lady! Hugs from Japan.
I have read your blog for a long time. Probaby nearly two years before Nie Nie's accident. So I grew to love your style BEFORE you were "blogging for Nie".
So because of this, I have LOVED your Nie updates.....but I have also loved that you have re-entered your style back into it.
I feel bothered that people who ONLY know your blog since the accident are now judging you for returning to your "regular" blogging.
Keep being yourself. People don't have to click on.
My favorite motto: If you can't say somethin' nice, don't say anything at ALL. ;-)
All is not perfect in Cjanes world. She actually does get some comments that aren't gushing about how perfect she is or about how much she has sacrificed.
Can someone please tell me why anyone would continue to read a blog that they do not enjoy? If you don't like Courtney or her blog don't come here. Jessica is correct. This is Courtney's blog so she gets to pick and choose which posts she puts up. Why in the heck would she publish a negative post?
I totally understand what you are trying to say with your "new look" and knowing your humor...I will assume that this header is just temporary until the new look is complete.
OMG!!! People that are leaving the negative comments need to stop! If you don't like the blog then why are you here???? I think everyone that visits a blog should only leave nice comments....if you don't like what you read....STOP reading. The comment section on a blog is not for you to post a nasty comment. It is a way of communicating to the author...with kind words. I have a blog myself and I get postitive comments all the time. I am not perfect, but the readers that like what I post...actually tell me they LOVED it...and if they hated it they leave the blog without posting a comment. Ditto what Jamie said: If you can't say something nice then don't say anything at all.
What the world needs now is love.....sweet love!!!
I think it's dumb of people to be offended by your header. I think it's funny, and even if I hated it, I wouldn't quit reading your blog just because of a header.
So, I figure, maybe the header will separate the wheat from the chaff, if you know what I mean.
I feel bad about the negative comments that have been left. I hope you can look past them, and see that there are SO MANY MORE of us that love and support and admire you for who you are and all you do.
I agree with Jessica. Comments are simply that: comments. They can be positive or negative, and the individuals in disagreement should be just as free to express themselves as those who agree. It's not a perfect world and everyone doesn't always agree. That being said, naturally CJane can do whatever she wants on her blog; readers can keep on reading, or stop. Free choice. I think the new header is in poor taste. I understand that CJane is just making a joke and not being self centered, etc. However, not everyone will understand that and I think many will be offended. I think CJane has done a wonderful job portraying the LDS religion, and has introduced many to it, and I would have for them to develop a sour taste from an inside joke gone wrong.
I think the new header is pretty. I also think the readers should post their comments if they wish to do so. But I find it predictable that most who criticize do so anonymously.
I love everything you write and I think everyone should just lighten up.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the header! Showed it to my hubby and he laughed too, remembering your great post I read to him the other night! It reminds me of a painting i've seen before, and it totally puts the blogging wold into perspective. Way to embrace it!
Love you & Nie & all that you have inspired in myself.
Yeah, I generally like your blog, but your new "statement piece" just comes across as an insecure, immature response to your critics. And really, why go out of your way to respond to them at all? I get that you were going for funny/ironic/self-deprecating, but I'm afraid you took a wrong turn and ended up at obnoxious.
Ok skip the Wings, I am sorry but I think it takes away from the humble things you have done for your Sister and her family. Please don't be talked into that. A lot of your I don't know should we call it fame as come from your sisters tragedy, all of us bloggers have been so concerned about Stephanie and Christians well being and we have followed your blog for updates, Thank You. Just tell me the wing thing is a joke ...
I disagree with Jessica and HR...would you just walk up to someone and say, "I hate your clothes. I think you have very poor taste. That's just my opinion, though...it's just a free exchange of ideas."? NO...or you wouldn't have many friends for long! It baffles me that people think that just because this is cyberspace, or just because they are "anonymous" that they can say whatever they want and there is nothing wrong with it. If you wouldn't want to be offensive to someone in person, what makes you think it is appropriate on someone's blog? Just don't say anything...leave a positive comment or none at all. It's just good taste and common sense.
We will miss you while you are under construction!!! Visions of your ginormous angel wings and photoshop'd blush will dance through our heads!! Come back soon!!
CJane You are awesome. I laughed so hard when I saw you as an angel. People who get your humor love it. Don't worry about the others. You are an amazing sister and aunt to do all that you do. I cannot even imagine going from no kids to 4-5 in a few short months. You have earned your wings!! :) Don't be stressed by the haters. You are GREAT!!
I too am having a hard time with your blog lately. Like many others, I have become caught up with the life of Mr. and Mrs. Nielson and their tragic accident and miraculous healing process. I have been touched by your family's love and service toward Stephanie and Christian and toward each other. I have become teary eyed at times reading posts, participated in fundraisers for the Nielson Recovery fund and shared the story with many others.
However, s a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I beleive that the Christ-like example of humility is one of the most-overlooked and yet important attributes of the Savior. I could just quietly delete you from my blog-roll but I have to speak up. You seem like a great sister and a wonderful wife, mother and daughter of God. Yet, I find myself sick to see that you are indulging in the fame of it all. Making yourself an idol to the blog world and depicting yourself as an angel-- though it might be in jest-- is contrary to the idea of what Latter Day Saint women should be. Politicing for votes as Mormon of the Year, Blogger of the year teaches a contrary idea than what we are taught as members of the Church. Even when Mitt Romney ran for President, our own Church did not politic and ask it's members for his vote.
Please consider the words of President Ezra Taft Benson when he said: " Pride does not look up to God and care about what is right. It looks sideways to man and argues who is right. Pride is manifest in the spirit of contention.
Was it not through pride that the devil became the devil? Christ wanted to serve. The devil wanted to rule. Christ wanted to bring men to where He was. The devil wanted to be above men.
Christ removed self as the force in His perfect life. It was not my will, but thine be done.
Pride is characterized by “What do I want out of life?” rather than by “What would God have me do with my life?” It is self-will as opposed to God’s will. It is the fear of man over the fear of God.
Humility responds to God’s will—to the fear of His judgments and the needs of those around us. To the proud, the applause of the world rings in their ears; to the humble, the applause of heaven warms their hearts.
Someone has said, “Pride gets no pleasure out of having something, only out of having more of it than the next man.” Of one brother, the Lord said, “I, the Lord, am not well pleased with him, for he seeketh to excel, and he is not sufficiently meek before me.”D&C 58:41 "
I hope that you can consider a new mantra: to be to want what God would have you do with your life.
Hey Janie baby....When are you going to give us what you promised??? More details about Nie coming home??? (Sitting on pins and needles in suspense...)
I am an every day reader of yours; I have loved reading your blog and enjoy your writing so much. It truly lifts me up and for that I thank you so much. I few post a go I noticed someone had written you about being self centered and today was a sad day for me when I came to read your page and saw that very in your face header. I think you know that many people look to your page as a way to learn how to deal. I know you may not feel that responsibility is not your, but it is and became that when you got a wide spread audience and I feel you accepted the job when you let everyone view your thoughts instead of making it private. The job I will say is not always pretty and people can sometimes say hurtful things, but it is not in the writing, the fun pictures, but in the actions that really post who you are. I feel your banner is shouting at those people and in some ways mocking them. Let them feel that way without that ugly banner that makes it seem like you have something to prove because to people like me I feel that you should not have anything to prove that you are just what your pictures, and writing say a beautiful person. Beauty is something from the inside (you should know this) so a picture likes that make you know more beautiful. I hope this does not come at you in a hard way just a friendly reminded that beauty is who you are and not in a picture.
Oh my gosh people, it is a JOKE!!! Stop taking it so seriously. If you can't laugh at yourself and have a good time, even during the hardest of times, then what is the point of life? And for everyone pulling the religion card, just remember President Hinckley. He was always making people laugh, sometimes at his own expense. And we loved him for it.
CJane - keep doing what you are doing. You rock and deserve those wings for everything you have done. Even though I know you probably don't think so. Keep making us laugh!!
And by the way, you have the cutest baby in the entire world. (Aside from my own, of course)
I think I feel the same way as someone else wrote. It feels that you are jealous of Nie and are so excited for the fame that NIE gave you that you are now taking full advantage. What a disappointment. I can’t wait for Nie and her humbleness to come back. We need a breath of fresh air you are squeezing to tight.
1. I post anonymously only because I can't get the stupid computer to use my google name.
2. I admit that every time I come to your blog, I hope to hear about Nie's status and how the kids are coping with her changes, etc. I also go to her blog & the "updates" for the same reason. We all (if honest) are desperately yearning for a glimpse into their situation. Some might just be curious, but I have grown to love Nie, Christian, Claire, Jane, Ollie & Gigs through the years. I truly feel pain for them and worry about how they are coping.
3. Because you (usually) delete any negative comments, it might come across as kind of gooey, "look how great I am", "patting myself on the back" type of blog. Truthfully, some of your "admirers" get a little sickening with their compliments. But that's not your problem. It's also not your problem if not everybody loves you. Which might mean that not moderating would show that you can take the criticism along with the love. Its worth considering.
4. You and I have a lot in common. I battled infertility with the end result of a gorgeously chewable baby boy. (Later an adoption, then one more, a "bonus" baby, as we like to stamp on his forehead.) Also, like me, you have a tough exterior, but you are easily hurt. You try not to let comments bother you, but they do. Probably more than the average person.
So, in my infinite "common sense" wisdom (after all, I'm old enough to be yo mama), I think you should: a) blog as you want to b) include negative comments because after all, you get the sting of reading them whether you print them or not. c) and most importantly, be yourself because you are wonderfully made. It's ok to be Cjane. It's ok to be human.
I am way too excited about the new blog lay out! And I am loving the angelic CJane at the top of the page! How awesome is that? Quite fitting as well, I must say. ;)
Adios to all those people that are no longer going to read cjane's blog just because you can't take a joke. We won't be missing your negative comments!!!
cJane as ethereal angel? Hmmm, that would be Stephanie, the true fighter who deserves that place. Hate to say, but new illustration is just too over the top. Come back to earth, where we welcome your earthiness as a fellow Mom.
Love the angel header, you are too funny cjane! And you really are an angel!
To the person that is quoting LDS prophets about pride...
Maybe you should reconsider what you are saying. We should each be our own judge about whether or not we have pride. Do you like it when someone critizes you or tries to point out your imperfections?
She didn't ask for the fame, and I personally think she is handling it well.
There is nothing wrong with asking for votes. You are not required to vote for her, she was only making us aware that we could vote.
"Pride is manifest in the spirit of contention." -- so true
So why are you creating contention by leaving negative comments to someone that really doesn't need that right now? It is obvious in her blog that cjane know's right from wrong...
For all y'all that are upset about Cjane's pride and obvious arrogance, I have a new blog that you can check out instead of hers. It's www.getalife.blogspot.com.
I think people are taking this way too seriously. ;) It's just a banner poking fun at herself. Don't over-analyze. Also, I was amused to find that there is indeed a St. Jane! http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=60 I was inspired by her story.
I don't personally love it, but lighten up people. To each his own; blog, that is.
Keep up the good work, Janie. No matter what your motivation is behind the new design, the choice is yours and it doesn't take away from the wonderful and inspirational person you are. If that makes you an angel, then I'm happy to see your banner every day.
Are you people joking?(The negative ones) cjane's blog doesn't have to be 100% about Nie.
I understand cjane's sister was in a tragic accident. Does that mean that her blog has to be totally devoted to talking about it? I don't think so. Her sister is in recovery, I think she has every reason to rejoice and be witty.
It really doesn't make sense to me why it so "wrong" for her to joke around on HER blog.
Cjane, love the new look. It made me laugh. I love that you are looking on the bright side of everything that goes on in your life. You are such a great example to me and many other people. It's not self centered at all to talk about yourself on YOUR OWN blog.
Comments were deliberately turned back on a few posts ago, irrespective of the blog face lift.
Many blogs do not moderate comments, but after some egregious and intrusive comments at the expense of the blog author's family ('tacky' wouldn't even cover it,) moderation became an option.
Cjane has always turned on and off comments at certain periods (even when people were nothing but effusive) because in her case it was never about comments. We're all very lucky she takes any comments whatsoever.
I'm glad to have 'our' cjane back, the one before the world discovered this little patch of clover.
Yours in editorial bliss,
-P.R.
p.s. Prego literally translated means 'I pray.' Prego can be used to mean a variety of English phrases, such as 'you're welcome' or 'please' and when you add in 'scusi' the whole thing turns into something like 'please excuse the dust as we're currently renovating.' Tu vuo' fa' L'americano?
Hehehehehh thanks for clearing that up Courtney...I didn't read into the pregnancy and thought I had missed something! I also ( I know this is fresh....but I wondered how you found the time LOL) But then you are angelic! Have a great day, tears came agian but oh SO HAPPY ones! God bless you all and Thank you dear Father for answering ALL of our many many prayers! CONGRATS Stephanie...I cannot wait I have cleared my calendar to basque in your words...COMING SOON!!!!
Courtney, Sheesh, everyone has gotten their knickers in a twist over a change in your blog design. I'm sure that I'm older than most of your readers and I guess the old "with age comes wisdom" adage is really true. I just don't worry about little inconsequential things. Certainly your sister's and Christian's accident taught people about the fragility of life and not to fuss over silly things? Please, everyone needs to relax. Anne
Ah C- I'm sure you're all getting a kick out of today's comments. I'm still laughing about your banner and had to come back to see it again. And boo hoo to all those anonymous comments....have some guts people! If you have something to say then add your identity to it or keep your mouth shut. Seriously!
How anyone can you see you other than an amazing human being is beyond me and as IF you're letting fame go to your head. People just don't get you and too bad for them. Blog away...blog on and send those anonymous bloggers into blogger space!
blogs in general are about marking your territory on the web, which in turn becomes "all about you" ... displaying photos of yourself, your family, etc. saying "look at me/us!" ... writing about accomplishments, your activities, saying "look at me/us, look what i/we did!" NOW.. where i get confused is, if that is so bad - WHY ARE YOU HERE?
you're probably a blogger yourself. what do yours look like? i'm so curious. do any of the topics above ring a bell? or do you always just post terrible stories about yourself, horrible pictures of yourself & just post about all your failures. no? then maybe you're a little braggarty & self-centered yourself. maybe you are looking for a little fame & recognition, but you just never called it that.
were you ever on the today show? or interviewed by the new york times? no? okay - yeah... that doesn't just happen to everyone. but if you had a GREAT STORY that was tragic & personal yet moved hundreds & thousands to restore their faith in God, their love for family & even perfect strangers - would you turn those interviews down? the prayers? the donations?
cjane is only guilty of being herself. she laughs when she wants to laugh, she cries when she wants to cry. she didn't ask for any of this to happen. she wasn't asked by anyone to do what she has done. she just answered the call. cjane just followed her heart. she was just herself. cjane.
the world, today show viewers, new york times readers & even nienie's readers all took it upon THEMSELVES to come over to cjane's blog & to watch the world through her eyes. she was already here. everything that has happened to cjane since august 16, was still happening to this pair of sisters. it was real. we just got to see it all through cjane's eyes.
regularly she wrote about her dear sister's status... as you would do for yours. she asked for prayers for her sister, as you would do for yours. she asked for contributions of various kinds, as you would do for yours. she begged. as you would do for yours. she kept her spirits high by laughing at herself & finding moments to smile - so that her sister [when she woke up] knew it wasn't all so bad & so that her sister's children had a happy home. i think you'd do this for your sister, too.
cjane's enjoying it. in every sense of the word. she makes lemonade from lemons. and several times a week she writes about it. and that's all i have to say about that.
love, a pro-cjane anonymous writer :D [just to even the playing field]
CJane, I LOVE you, and I LOVE your blog. To be honest, the new header really freaked me out at first! I think I may have actually screamed. I understand your humor, though, and the fact of the matter is that it doesn't make any difference whether or not I like it. It's your blog, after all!
Words cannot even explain how much I admire you. You're a real person with real trials- trials that I cannot even imagine experiencing. You handle them with courage, and with grace. I cannot thank you enough for sharing so much of your life with all of us. You, Stephanie, and your entire family have taught me so much. I can't wait for next Friday! I'm so, SO excited!
I don't get the whiny people. We live in America, so you can read what you want to read. Have they never been in a tragic situation? Life does go on. You must "joke in the ICU waiting room" so to speak or you will go nuts. You can't always think about the bad or it will take you.
Keep it up CJane. I just think the header thing is nuts!! New readers will be confused but if they are bright they will figure it out.

congratulations ?
lol...that's what I was thinking...Congrats? I hope so!
Whew! Hurray for freetranslation.com! Otherwise I may have gotten the wrong idea. :o)
Congrats!
Hope you feel better than you did with the Chief.
My dear dear friends. I simply must put a stop to the idea that I am pregnant. Actually, I am just working on a new blog layout which has made me feel all Italian inside.
So, no baby.
New layout.
(but it would be awesome if i were.)
We are touching, please excuse?
I cannot believe their is only three comments, I always want to comment but never do because their are always like a bizillion comments. I Love your blog and read it daily. Thank you for being such a great light in my life.
The translation site didn't work for me.
Looking forward to the new layout. I love Italian.
Oooh, a new layout is exciting!! I'm looking forward to seeing it.
Saskia x
When I put each phrase into freetranslation.com seperately I got: "We are touching up. You excuse I pray."
Can't wait to see the results!
Tricky little word prego isn't it? A new look will be excitig too but good to know we'd all be excited for the othere thing too right?
I'm sure the new layout will be fabulous. Can't wait to see it!
Hee hee. Looking forward to the new layout (not that the current one isn't splendid in itself), and thinking "prego" is indeed a funny little word.
I feel so incredibly sneaky and cool because I know some of the "secrets" about the new layout.
Exciting-the creative process!
I thought you were either pregnant, or making spaghetti!
I got it the first time...can't wait to see the new layout!
To be "Prego" would be fantastic!
Spaghetti? Yum!
I just got a blog makeover myself-It felt SO GOOD! Hurry up I can't wait to see :)
p.s. you're so winning on webblog awards!!!
I too pictured you with paintbrush in hand ready to cover the walls with paint, as if you have all the time in the world for spicy remodeling.
arrrrgh, you did that on purpose!
I did the translation and was disappointed. But hey, it's good to get the heart pounding so early in the morning...
We love you.
Once I figured out that I should click Italian to English, then I got the correct translation. Happy blog makeover-ing (so not a word, I know)
It helps to have had an Italian exchange student living in your house for a year.
Then you don't get the wrong impression when someone leaves the word "prego" on their blog. :)
Can't wait for the new layout
I thought congrats were in order too! Now I'm REALLY embarrassed though because I AM Italian and yet I obviously don't speak it! Goal for the New Year? Hmmm.... It would come in handy for any FUTURE Cjane announcements--IF they came in Italian lol! ANYWAYYY...congrats on the new layout! Lori
Now THAT was amusing.
cool. can't wait to see the new look.
ha! two years of half-heartedly learning italian at the Lord's university have finally paid off!
That is funny. It reminds me of a time when a friend of mine was trying to tell someone who spoke Spanish that she was embarrased that her Spanish wasn't so good and she said "embarazada" which actually means "pregnant".
"We are touching up. Excuses I pray."
Ok, now I need a translator to make THAT make sense. French, I speak. Spanish, I speak. ASL, I sign. Weird computer Italian, I don't understand.
....and I guess I should read the other comments. (Shouldn't you be moderating your posts???)
Kathi
It didn't work for me either! But I'm glad you clarified, b/c that would've been my guess too.
Congrats on the new blog redesign. Wanna enlist someone to do mine??? I'm frustrated!
Anyway, can't wait to see yours!
That was a funny OOPS! The link would not work for me so I relied heavily on my experience with old Sophia Loren and Verna Lisi movies for the gist. Went to WordReference.com for the fine tuning, LOL. Have fun with your new Blog Face!
Did someone say spaghetti?? :)
Just read all this weeks post. I just have to say one reason I come to you blog is because I always feel better when I leave. If this is the effect of you being self centered then by all means keep it up! Thanks for being you and sharing yourself with us.I know another long rambling comment sorry.
Good golly, what in the world could you be up to. And Rookie Cookie is a liar.
Ya big 'ol show off, you and yer fancy language.
Now I have to carry a translater to come here?
What's next? We'll have to pay?
I know prego looked like that but once I transalted it, i couldn't help put laugh at all the prego comments...too funny...
The link thing didn't work perfect for me, either. I got We are touching up. excuses I pray so
I guess I get it.
I doubted the prego, simply because when have you got that kind of time? ha
WOuld have loved to know what you said but it was $65.00 to find out.
I'm not sure how anyone derived from that that you were pregnant, but I'm glad you explained :) Apparently, I'm a little slow here! Can't wait to see the new layout!
We are touching up. excuses I pray.
haha.....it doesn't cost to translate it ~ it says FREE!!!
Can't wait to see the new look Court:)
I love it! Good for you! It made me smile. :)
These comments are hilarious. It must be too early in the morning (here at least) because the pregnant thing never entered my head LOL. Can't wait to see the new layout
Hahahahaha!!! LOVE your new header!!!
the angel's a bit scary! have you heard the saying - "the angels who fear to tread where fools rush in, used to be the fools who rushed in".
You are the kind of sister every woman wishes for
I love you and your sense of humor even more now since seeing your new header!!!!
j'aime beaucoup ton nouveau layout!
il va très bien avec toi et ton blog!!!
That is awesome. I love ya! E Beesley
Okay. . .
So. . .
Your new look. . .
There are no words, however there is a sound:
BWAHAHAHAHAHA!
Love it!
yaya! i love the image of you as an angel... i hope i'm not the only person who finds it completely endearing and hilarious and wonderful
ahh the angel c jane is shining forth in all her glory to say "in your face" to all those who choose to be offended. I hope the background is nothing but a wall paper of your angelic image...
I busted a gut when your new page loaded... I love your wit, your dry humor, your pithy sarcasm. (and the design, by the way... it's fabulous) I'd love to see the reaction from that person who reprimanded you for the very thought that you were proclaiming "angel-ness"
hilarious!
I love the new header. Hilarious!
Perhaps it will scare away all the goons from your blog (who post mean-spirited things)
the new layout is a little freaky deaky, but it is so funny because it is the epitome of your "selfishness" that's not really selfishness, just the love of talking about your wonderful life! which is what i love to do, too. i like the cjane with wings.
LOL, I ADORE the image of you as an angel. It's exactly what I would've done.
oh boy do i love that cheeky new banner! can't wait to see what else you cook up!
I heard a song today that reminded me of your sister and your blog: While you were sleeping by Elvis Perkins... Thought you may enjoy it as well.
Gotta say...I LOVE the new blog header! Your sense of humor and sarcasm are shining thru. lol
Your new banner makes me giggle, I love it!!
We are touching up. Excutses I pray?
Ummm...so far I'm LOVING the new page!!! I love the header - beautiful! And...I love how you did not let any bad comment affect you or the way you write - you. are. awesome!
I am really not liking the new header you have going on. I think it may be a little much!
Love the new look so far! Look at the girl with her halo now!!!
Dear Angel Courtney,
Your banner is very, very funny.
LOL
Your new banner is awesome!!!!! Love the site...as always.
let the spice begin . . . yay!!
CJane,
I want to put this as kindly as possible because I love your blog.
I can't get over it. I simply cannot. That banner! Oh! It's so cool I might start praying to it.
But most likely not.
Gee whiz. Jed is a genius.
And you're pretty okay too.
OMG, Courtney, your new header is TOO FUNNY! LOL
St. Courtney, intercede for us!
The new masthead is hilarious! Way to stick it to the haters, babe.
CJane----- you ROCK!!!!! I LOVE the new header!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh I LOVE IT! You rock:)
congrats. On the new look, I mean.
Seriously, prego is pray?
Can I just tell you that I am laughing so hard at your new header. In light of the recent "angel" comment controversy, it is hilarious. Well played my dear, well played.
you want to buy some garlic bread?
LOVE the new banner and layout! Way to go..also thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful Book of Mormon insights.
I LOVE the Angel! You are an Angel! Good job!
Take that Won! (a little play on words there:))
I am not gonna lie, that banner is pretty freaky.
Holy Freaking Cow! This new web site is AMAZING! You are an angel, for reals. I love it love it love it!
hahahahahhaha!
PS. I CAN say that I do love the colors...
I love your blog, but I hate the new header.
Is that hair on your chest?
ciao bella! Ti amo e la sua famiglia!
baci!
love LOVE the new heading...i laughed so much i had to show it to my husband.
"who is that?"
oh it's nie nie's sister who is becoming a saint ;) xox
Way to weird! What are you trying to portray?
I think you are fabulous. However I'm gonna have to agree with the freaky comment. Sorry, don't hate or be offended. It is funny though, but yikes. You're much prettier than that.
love the new site!
love the header - certainly gave me a little chuckle.
I get the joke, and yet something about this banner really creeps me out. Sorry, not liking it at all.
Becca
LOVE IT. Who gives a shit what people think??
The new banner seems kinda "dooce"ey and not so much "cjane"ey...
I LOVE it! You as an angel--oh so perfect!
I haven't been to your site for a while and at first the header was a little weird but after reading the history I get it. I think you are a breath of fresh air and would be an awesome friend. Keep on Truckin'!
the new banner gets a thumbs down, sorry!
I love you anyway.
That header is classic! Awesome. (the photo has a cool effect on it, too...)
The new blog pic of you with the angel wings is awesome!! I LOVE it! I love your blog! Prayers for Nie and her fam are always ongoing. I'm very excited about your website update. Amy from Michigan.
I totally agree with the person who said the banner is something Dooce would do. And I stopped reading Dooce because she got so negative.
Your new banner is well...um....different. Are you seriously keeping it like that?
Your new banner is freaky! I can't look at it. If I hadn't found your blog through Nie's for updates, I would seriously have wondered what I had stumbled upon! I like your blog. I understand that the new header is supposed to be funny. But it is just scary.
Love you...NOT loving the banner!
I totally agree that this banner is something Dooce would do. She is SO negative...you are not. Sorry...C me not enjoyin' it.
Total turnoff.... and it's not just the header. Seems like you truly have let the "fame" go to your head-and lost sight of why we all started to read your blog in the first place. For the love of Nie-who was positvely loveable (without the self promoting)
Continued prayers for Nie's family, but this is getting to be too much with you.
I'm not a fan either. Sorry.
I totally agree with the self promoting comments. Annoying and seems almost like you've always been jealous of Nie and are now loving the spotlight?
I too am turned off and will continue to pray-but no longer reading your blog.
Liz
I have to disagree with the comment that Nie did not self promote. Have you SEEN how many SELF PORTRAITS she posted on her blog?
HAHAHAHAH I LOVE The new banner! You and I have the same humor. This is so something I'd do when told I was self centered. Totally hilarious. I love you cjane! :)
WOW cjane whats with all the negative comments. Someone is not moderating.
I saw the new header...I had to see the comments! Too funny, some people need not take things so literally!
"We like you just the way you are"
I am a HUGE fan of yours.
HAHAHAHAHA, that new header is undeniably priceless! I LOVElovelove it!
Fowler:
We remain anonymous to prevent hate-spam on our blogs. To allow un-moderated comments is to invite open sharing of opinions, and that is what we are all doing. Just as you have the right to speak in favor of the header, we have the right to point out why we don't consider it to be in good taste.
I will continue to read the blog regardless of the header, but frankly, the entire blog layout and color scheme is in my opinion much less visually and symbolically appealing now than it was just yesterday. As long as Cjane voices no protest, I will express that opinion.
With love,
Anonymous.
Jessica, you are right on!
I like it lots so far!!!!!! :D :D :D
Courtney,
I have read your blog for a long time.
My favorite motto: If you can't say somethin' nice, don't say anything at ALL. ;-)
Love ya...
Will there be a link to nie nie's blog?
I totally understand what you are trying to say with your "new look" and knowing your humor...I will assume that this header is just temporary until the new look is complete.
Love love LOVE your blog c jane!
Hey CJane,
I think it's dumb of people to be offended by your header.
It's just good taste and common sense.
woot !! looking forward to the new layout
I love that when "people" say nasty stuff about you, you come back with angels wings. It's beautiful!
You need to have The Cheif be Cupid like flying in the corner with an arrow.... just a thought.
Kim from Ohio
Courtney where art thou? Please come back soon and MODERATE those nasty people out of our way.
We will miss you while you are under construction!!! Visions of your ginormous angel wings and photoshop'd blush will dance through our heads!! Come back soon!!
get your chillaxification on anonymousi...
it's cheeky, and i love it:)
CJane
You are awesome.
Courtney-
I too am having a hard time with your blog lately.
Please consider the words of President Ezra Taft Benson when he said:
" Pride does not look up to God and care about what is right.
Goodbye CJane
too bad not prego....see you are not self centered after all...however I am not so sure about the new banner of st c jane
Hey Janie baby....When are you going to give us what you promised??? More details about Nie coming home??? (Sitting on pins and needles in suspense...)
I'm loving you with a halo and wings.... it suits you well.
Don't inhale woo much blog dust with the construction going on. And watch out for hammers.
That is a no on the banner.
Ok, CJane, here's the thing:
So, in my infinite "common sense" wisdom (after all, I'm old enough to be yo mama), I think you should:
a) blog as you want to
b) include negative comments because after all, you get the sting of reading them whether you print them or not.
c) and most importantly, be yourself because you are wonderfully made. It's ok to be Cjane. It's ok to be human.
It's ok to be an angel, too.
I am way too excited about the new blog lay out! And I am loving the angelic CJane at the top of the page! How awesome is that? Quite fitting as well, I must say. ;)
Costruire felice!
You people are crazy. It's a total joke!!! Thank for the laughs CJane.
It is obvious in her blog that cjane know's right from wrong...
so leave her alone!
Mwah.
As an addendum to my above post.......sadly, I found no entry for a St. Courtney. :(
MYNOSEHURTS
Are you people joking?(The negative ones)
cjane's blog doesn't have to be 100% about Nie.
Dear Jessica,
Comments were deliberately turned back on a few posts ago, irrespective of the blog face lift.
Oh, there's NOTHING I like more than self-righteous people calling you out on being not righteous enough.
Not a thing more...
(Unless it's a random guy telling you he got a revelation that you're supposed to marry him.)
Carry on, Patron Saint of the Fair East Hills.
I am Italian: on your disposal for anything you need. Kisses
I love me some CJane.
Funny header, funny girl. Brave and super-cool girl to face all the haters.
Courtney,
Sheesh, everyone has gotten their knickers in a twist over a change in your blog design.
Anne
I made a comment on your blog last night about NOT liking the new layout BUT it is starting to grow on me today.
So there you go...
I guess if you came to my part of the world you might not aprove of every choice I make either.
I will say this....good for you for sticking with it and not deleting the negative comments.
Ah C-
I'm sure you're all getting a kick out of today's comments.
Blog away...blog on and send those anonymous bloggers into blogger space!
what i don't get...
blogs in general are about marking your territory on the web, which in turn becomes "all about you" ... displaying photos of yourself, your family, etc. saying "look at me/us!" ... writing about accomplishments, your activities, saying "look at me/us, look what i/we did!" NOW.. where i get confused is, if that is so bad - WHY ARE YOU HERE?
you're probably a blogger yourself. what do yours look like? i'm so curious. do any of the topics above ring a bell? or do you always just post terrible stories about yourself, horrible pictures of yourself & just post about all your failures. no? then maybe you're a little braggarty & self-centered yourself. maybe you are looking for a little fame & recognition, but you just never called it that.
were you ever on the today show? or interviewed by the new york times? no? okay - yeah... that doesn't just happen to everyone. but if you had a GREAT STORY that was tragic & personal yet moved hundreds & thousands to restore their faith in God, their love for family & even perfect strangers - would you turn those interviews down? the prayers? the donations?
cjane is only guilty of being herself. she laughs when she wants to laugh, she cries when she wants to cry. she didn't ask for any of this to happen. she wasn't asked by anyone to do what she has done. she just answered the call. cjane just followed her heart. she was just herself. cjane.
the world, today show viewers, new york times readers & even nienie's readers all took it upon THEMSELVES to come over to cjane's blog & to watch the world through her eyes. she was already here. everything that has happened to cjane since august 16, was still happening to this pair of sisters. it was real. we just got to see it all through cjane's eyes.
regularly she wrote about her dear sister's status... as you would do for yours. she asked for prayers for her sister, as you would do for yours. she asked for contributions of various kinds, as you would do for yours. she begged. as you would do for yours. she kept her spirits high by laughing at herself & finding moments to smile - so that her sister [when she woke up] knew it wasn't all so bad & so that her sister's children had a happy home. i think you'd do this for your sister, too.
cjane's enjoying it. in every sense of the word. she makes lemonade from lemons. and several times a week she writes about it. and that's all i have to say about that.
love,
a pro-cjane anonymous writer :D
[just to even the playing field]
p.s. if you don't like her batch of lemonade, maybe you just have different taste buds. go make your own! :)
Wow pro-cjane anonymous writer. Can I hire you as my ghost writer?
Nice work, you just made my evening.
I like the new look. If it was my blog, I would make the banner a tad smaller, but it is not my blog. :)
I found your blog after Nie Nie's accident and have been a faithful reader, I look forward to all your future posts.
I love the idea of adding spice to your life. I think mine needs some... time to finally do some painting!
