You are so selfless! I have three kids - 6, 5 & 2, and I can't bear the thought of letting them lick the spoon yet. (Selfish, I know.) I think it was because I was a third child and had to take turns with MY siblings... When in doubt, blame tihngs on your childhood. It's healthier that way.
And don't worry about childhood obesity. With siblings, she will have to take her turn too. It will be good for her. Give her good writing material later on in life.

You're a SUPERSTAR!

Dear Courtney:

The "ME in the center" post has nearly 1,000 comments, most testimonials to how wonderful you, your family, and your blog are. True, true, true. You are as good of a person as one can be on Earth! Don't beat yourself down. And, yes, the poster about being self-centered needs to consider the following.

By definition, Americans are self-centered.

This country was founded on people immigrating for a better life for HIM or HER self. People do not immigrate to America to make their birth country a better place. Immigrating is the most self-centered act one can have. So, unless the comment was made by a person whose ancestors are indigenous to his/her land, this commenter is self-centered too.

By definition, Western Religions are self-centered.

We are working as hard as we can in this life to secure the best place possible for ourselves in the after-life. In some cases we hold promises of being reunited with our families for eternity. Life is our test to see how well we do as INDIVIDUALS to secure our spot in the afterlife. So, unless the poster is not working in this life for eternal happiness in the next, then the poster is self-centered too.

As for this life, "WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS" is more people like you. "WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS" is more families like yours.

So, feel yourself embraced in the new year by the thousands of us who know you are no more self-centered than the rest of us (Christian, non-native Americans, that is).

Happy New Year. Keep on posting. Keep on feeling good about just what you are doing.

Let me take you back to my memories of "licking the spoon"
I first remember baking cookies with my grandma stellenbacher. I got to lick the spoon. then in the first grade i licked some chocolate from off the sidewalk, but that doesn't really count. one time i smelled some roses. Do you prefer kellogs or keebler. I like keebler because they make good cookies, and they donate money to saving the whales. I think green is the best color. what is your favorite color? Mine is blue. 163 comments for 12 words? I would probably say you have a good blog. Do you think I should start a blog? Do you think that I should type the smiley face on this comment?
:)
If you didn't then just ignore it. I like to type the smiley face that looks like he is including you in an inside joke, like this

I have never commented before, butI felt like I should about your last post. Why on earth would someone call you self-centered? That is crazy. Here you are, taking care of your sisters kids, trying to get the word out there to raise money for her, finding some joy along the way, and people think you are self centered? That's strange to me. There will alwayse people out there trying to put people down. I think you are amazing, I love to read what you write, and I think a blog is suppose to be about you!

I suddenly have the urge to make something sweet to share the spoon with someone special. I love the Chief's look, I hope he got a taste. :)
