The Happy Post

This morning I woke up,
looked over at Chup and proclaimed,

"I FEEL HAPPY!"

Which is a sentiment I haven't felt since falling prey to pregnancy's dark fog of apathetic musings from a emotional wet cave. (Did you catch all that?)

And it made me realize although I am not the sickest of the sickest pregnant women--those who are iv-injected, unable to breathe without vomiting--I do feel pathetically depressed, and that depression makes me more sick than I suppose I really feel. But who cares? Today I woke up and suddenly this planet was shining again, and I didn't wonder how I was going to make it through to nap time and from nap time to bedtime. Quick, somebody send me flowers!

I would give myself a hearty 75% with a lingering slight nausea sensation in the back of my throat, but not anything desperate. I say that in case someone reads this and thinks I am back to normal, like I could probably start answering my phone again. Just kidding sorta. I never did answer my phone.

After church Chup told me a story about taking The Chief to nursery and how one boy in the class kept calling my husband, "hey big guy" with a voice resembling sucked helium. The funny part of this story is though everyone calls him "big guy" (all six feet, five inches of him) no one has yet called him "hey big guy."

I call him "hotbottoms", just for the record.

After a gracious nap, I met up with Chup and The Chief in our front room. For some inexplicable reason, my husband crawled underneath our coffee table and stayed there for the better part of an hour. We tried to coax him free with suckers and caramels (who knew he doesn't like caramels?) but he insisted he was comfy and cozy under there (underwear?). Maybe it was like being back in embryo? The safe sensation of limited space? I don't know (can't remember) but if my fetus is as content as Hey Big Guy underneath the table today I happy to report all is well at Retro House.

glad to hear your feeling better and big guy got his sense of security today. I wonder who was calling you?

Ha ha this post really made me laugh. Hey big guy...must be a new nickname. Nice to hear you are feeling better.

Glad to hear you are feeling better. I need a happy day, too :)

Those pears says it all. ;) Lovely piece of art.

Oh, and as for the floor-snuggling. That IS actually quite comfortable. Gravity does its work better. It's kinda like when you ask people to sit on top of you. Lovely to be squashed sometimes. :)

Courtney so glad you feel happier now!!!

(I *never* answer my phone either)

Sooooo glad you are feeling better! I have a question. If you never answer your phone, how do you talk to people? I mean what if they don't answer their phone?I have a few relatives who do that and am never quite sure what to do or think. Should I just be a "slave" to their calls or not answer my phone either? Such a quandry!

Good to hear that you are feeling better! I love the pears wallhanging!

I had my one and only brush with depression during my fourth pregnancy. I hadn't prior understood how debilitating and .. well.. depressing? depression is. And it's part of the reason that was our last baby. I can't imagine being immersed in that again. It was horrible.

Oh, and now I'm officially voting "girl" since the depression pregnancy resulted in my only daughter.

I'm glad you are feeling better today.

I know that animals can sense a 'change in the weather' and also can sense fear when it comes to other creatures. Now, I'm not saying that you're anything to be feared, but one must never take chances.

I can only assume that The Chief has not yet developed that sense of survival as of yet. But don't worry, it will come in time...or at least one would hope.

Glad to hear that all is well (75% that is) and that all is good (25%?).

That is all.

Glad you are feeling better! Also, as an iv-stuck preggo...we all have our crosses to bear. Yours is different, but that doesn't mean it's any less difficult for you. I hope you continue feeling better every day!

75% with a slight feeling of nauseua at the back of the throat is a start! A definite reason for a happy post. Oh, and the picture of your husband's feet under there (underwear?!...you're too funny) is also a good reason.

Yea for you!

I would be investigating the coffee table incident further.

sometimes we all just need a little time under the table :)

so glad you're feeling better!

So glad you're feeling happy and 75% well. My husband is 6'6" and he likes small spaces like that too. Go figure. And I rarely answer our phone either. I figure if it's important, they'll leave a message and I can call them back. Hope retro house continues with the happy vibes. :)

I used to climb under the coffee table when I was little. It was like a fort. Chup was having a little fort time.

Squeeky Munchkin voice."Hey Big Guy!"
I love it! Maybe I should crawl under a table today...sounds nice.

So great. Love "hotbottoms" nickname - classic. Can't believe there has not been a "big guy" call out - that baffels me. My hubby is 6'8" - he gets it all the time - AND HATES it I will add. The other one, "boss" - that one ANNOYS ME! Do they not see, I'm the "boss lady"?!

That's awesome - all of it.
Underwear? Ha!ha!ha!ha!

Under our first coffee table my husband wrote in pencil. So you needed to crawl under it to read his declaration. "I love Debra Moore signed the Animal of Passion". We sold that table, with that inscripition. But, with lasting memories of how great a coffee table can be.

This post made me happy this morning when I've been struggling a little bit with worries and doubts. Thank you for that.

P.S. I like climbing under tables and the like and staying there for a long time, too.

I bet it is a girl. It sounds all too familiar- awash in too much estrogen can make you crazy! I am glad the fog is lifting though!

So sorry you're still feeling poorly but I'm glad you were happy at least! That's something I've noticed as I'm moving closer to the third trimester - I have days where I'm just happy. No reason really (not that I'm unhappy the rest of the time) but life just feels extra good, you know? It's a great feeling!

I heart saying underwear after the kids say under there!
Love the stocking feet poking out of the table....at first I thought it was you and wondered "why such hairy legs?" :)

Your kid is so cute. Really cute. I don't usually think kids are that cute.

thanks! i needed this today. i've been in my own funk of late...brought on by at least a week of grey, rainy days. it's time to get up and shine even if the sun isn't.

I didn't know you had a "big guy" too! Mine "big guy" is 6'5 too. Aren't they the best? Always handy when I need something I can't quite reach.

Glad to hear you are feeling better.

I think you and Chup have a physical ease and attraction very similar to my Mr Curry and mine. It's SO FUN. Who knew marriage was so...hot :)

Glad you are feeling better.

Maybe the table was like a shield...to prevent being climbed upon by the chief.

Glad you had a happy day, more to come I am sure. :)

My delish little girlies recently discovered the "underwear" joke - and thus so have I... they "get" me CONSTANTLY! Happiness is wonderful may it continue!

Shiver me timbers!I can relate with all of those feelings and am doing better but not my best and my third child-baby is 1. I did go to Costco this mornin and got some Pirate's Booty. Me and my sonshine are lovin the warm crunchy air pockets of puffed white cheddar goodness! Your posts and PB is addicting to the soul. Keep lettin your brilliant light shine..small happy moments are what it's all about. I love when the daddy species come in to help in our nursery. The kids are so captivated by the playful big guys. Tell him not to hang out in there to long or he may be asked to stay ;)

I have a general rule to not answer my phone during the week unless the caller, "comes to my window" from 7-8 a.m. or 5-6 p.m. Friends of mine call me the Queen of Screen, but they still love me! (I hope :)
