Thank goodness for kids...too bad they grow up so fast. Now I understand why my grandma said she wanted to put me under a basket so I'd stop growing. :) I'd do the same to my 3 mth old daughter if it'd work.
Man, I'd totally have a kid if they popped out with a vacuum cleaner in hand. Coincidentally, I kind of broke (both of) our vacuums today so vacuums have been on the brain.
HUSBAND! WE NEED TO HAVE A BABY! I MEAN A VACUUM! I MEAN...um. *runs away*
Can I just say, Courtney, that your house always lokos impressively clean? I've noted it before. And now I see why! I'm inspired to get the kiddos to work.
The Chief makes my ovaries hurt. And I loved Chloe's comment. Haha.
But about vacuums, and feeling Shari's pain:
Oh, Shari...I still have my mom's Kenmore vacuum that MIGHT be older than me (I'm 26)...I'm honestly not sure. And I got a new Kenmore when I had an apartment (before she got a new vacuum to replace the ancient one)...but when she replaced it I stole the ancient one cause I still love it. I just works REALLY WELL...STILL.
Um, so I guess I recommend a Kenmore mid-to-top of the line canister vacuum? I hope that helps you--I have always hated all upright vacuums, period. You should try Kenmore! (Sears). It will last you at least 10 years, possibly 30. Or more, since (knock on wood) mine's not dead yet. :)
I show my sister pictures like this and she thinks I'm a slave driver at home. In truth, my two year old will force the vacuum out of my hands and say, "MY back-oom!" and proceed to push it around the room one inch at a time.
My thought it, how do you keep him from grabbing that decoration in the middle of the table and throwing it across the room? At my house, the only time that would be in the right spot is over night, after I've cleaned up for the day and before The Tornado arises in the morning.
YES! Cjane, I nearly rolled over laughing when I saw your post. My almost two year old boy is OBSESSED with all things vaccuum. He pushes it around constantly, and whenever we go to WM or Target he insists on touching each one of the vacuums on display. Love it.
My little guy loves the vacuum too! I've heard somewhere that there's a mini dyson made for kids that actually vacuums...I.want.it. I just hope he still wants to vacuum in another few years - LOL!
Seriously...Could he be any more precious??? My boys are now nine and twelve. One of their favorite toys when they were little was their little red Dirt Devil vacuum. It was a battery operated toy, but it really picked up stuff...mostly lint! They felt like such big helpers! :0) Oh, how I miss those days when life was more simple. Now we spend hours helping with homework and big school projects. When my babies were little I would kiss them goodnight and secretly wish that they could just stay little forever. C Jane, if you could invent a machine that could take me back in time you would be my new BFF!!!
Your blog yesterday really touched my heart. I know that I am blessed with the two sons that I have and I couldn't even begin to imagine my life without them. So, it's not like I am not grateful for them. I love my children so much and I had always hoped to have a house full of kids. Unfortunately, that was not to be. My body just couldn't do it. I have really struggled with that fact for the last few years, especially since my hysterectomy. I want to let those sad feelings go. For crying out loud, I still have all of my children's baby clothes neatly packed away in the garage in the hopes that some day a new baby would come along and I would once again see a precious little child of mine wear those adorable little clothes again. I want to enjoy the present, but I find myself in this strange place now. My kids are getting older. I am not going to have more children. I have been a stay at home mom, a home child care provider, a CNA for a short time, and I am currently working as a Nanny while my kids are at school. It works out great because I get my "Baby Fix" and I spoil the little princess rotten! I help the family out with housework and laundry. It works out well because it helps us buy groceries for my pre-teen boys! Trust me...they can EAT!!! Even with my husband and I both working, we are struggling to make ends meet. I am in my mid thrities and I often find myself wondering if this is what I was truly meant to do with my life. I keep wondering what comes next??? My life for as long as I can remember has always been about babies and children. I am praying for the Lord to reveal a new path for me so that I can become a more fulfilled person than I am at this time. I want to acknowledge the past, but live in the blessed present of my life and not worry so much about the future.
I guess I should get me a "featherlite" vacuum to encourage my child laborers.
By the way, I've recently started stalking your blog, and feel I should identify myself. I knew your husband as well as your brother Chris, and Emme in college, so after a friend sent me a link to NieNie's blog, I found the link to yours and was surprised to see familiar faces. You do make me smile.
Yea, my chore load was getting heavy so I had 5 kids to get it all done. Of course, the laundry pile grew, the dishes are always dirty, etc, etc, etc. That didn't work very well.
I can't believe how big he has got. It seems just like over night he has turned into a little man! I let my kids vacuum and mop too....don't want boys growing up thinking Moms do all the work...lol
maybe we could have both. otherwise who would make the gloves? I am a sick sick mom. i really don't want children in glove factories and i really do want my kids behind my vacuum cleaner. or anybody's kids behind my vacuum cleaner, actually.

This is the cutest! Too bad they don't have the attention span to keep it up! But good for him getting down to work!
This dump better shine like the top of the Chrysler Building!
Man, I'd totally have a kid if they popped out with a vacuum cleaner in hand. Coincidentally, I kind of broke (both of) our vacuums today so vacuums have been on the brain.

My daughter is scared of the vacuum, so it wouldn't work for me. :) Oddly, I have the exact same vacuum as you.

Can I just say, Courtney, that your house always lokos impressively clean? I've noted it before. And now I see why! I'm inspired to get the kiddos to work.
Can't believe he likes the vacuum. My little man runs and screams. He's a cutie!
Aw that picture is so cute!
You mean ther are OTHER reasons to have children?
C JANE FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!!!
A child in every home, and a vacuumn in each of their grubby little hands!
Now that is one adorable little man.
I'm glad you at least got him a Featherlite.
A live-in housekeeper! Sit back and enjoy!
Awwwwww the chief is SO cute. Love those little toes.
Enjoy it while you can! They always love it when they are little.
How cute is he?! He looks like a little man...
Seems only fair, doesn't it? You were in labor with him...he should be in the act of laboring for you.
Crack the whip again...

That is adorable!
"Train up a child..." it's good to start early teaching them housekeeping skills!
Der C Jane,
Where did you get that lovely coffee table?
Just thought I'd give you another idea for the Dear C Jane blog. I do love the coffee table! And The Chief, he's just so adorable!

Hehehe! My children seem to think I have this down to a Science. Too Cute!
Awesome!
I have the same vacuum!! I hate it. Do you like yours?
I figure I have to buy a new one every year anyway so I bought the cheapest crappiest one at the store.
The Chief makes my ovaries hurt. And I loved Chloe's comment. Haha.

More Babies with Popped Collars
Recently found your blog and I've been enjoying ever since, and wondering where I've been all this time to not have found you before. :)
Your little guy is adorable.
Gabe's favorite thing is the vacuum too. I wish we lived closer so our boys could be friends...
Do you perm his hair?
Dang! You make cute babies!
Yea, my chore load was getting heavy so I had 5 kids to get it all done. Of course, the laundry pile grew, the dishes are always dirty, etc, etc, etc. That didn't work very well.
The Chief is so stinking cute. I love it.
lol for sure!
Yeah, my 2 year old loves to work around the house! Too bad it seems to have grown old by the time they're five...go, chief, go.
That cutie looks just like his dad.
Love that! Love you. I wish I knew you in person and not just as a blog stalker. :o)
I can't believe how big he has got. It seems just like over night he has turned into a little man! I let my kids vacuum and mop too....don't want boys growing up thinking Moms do all the work...lol
seriously, that's what I need after cleaning the house today!
So big! So cute!
I must have misunderstood the directions that came with them-isn't this what we have them for?
My little boy was obsessed with the vacuum from a small age too. I love that your vacuum is a Featherlite- what a cutie!
Lucky! My 20 month old is terrified, absolutely terrified of the vacuum. If he even catches a glimpse of it it's meltdown time.
I, much like so many others, enjoy reading your blog!
I have posted an award for you on my blog...
www.praiselikedavid.com
hey lady- you are so funny!! Congrats on #2! Two little jiblets will be soo much fun!
Does The Chief really have a mullet?
