What's Going On Here:

Andrew has the camera.

Lucy wants a picture by the tree.

I say Andrew, "Don't take a picture of me."

He says, "I won't Court."

I say, "I am serious."

He says, "I won't Court"

He winks at Lucy.

I go back to coaxing The Chief out from behind the tree.

White flocking bits are sticking to me,

on my dress

in my hair.

(I was warned, but I didn't heed

the part about toddlers and

flocked trees.)

"Come on sweetheart,"

I sing sweetly.

But he doesn't move.

Meanwhile Lucy poses

(her old cheerleading pose-perhaps?)

Betsy ponders the great attributes of classical Rome

and Andrew takes the picture.

(With me in it.)

Thanks Layla, I cropped most of my backside out.

Sorta takes away the compliment, doesn't it?

I love your description of what everyone is doing...thanks for the laugh. I like your tree, and I like your brown hair!

I love your tree...and the bits of it sticking to you. White trees don't really happen here in Australia. Unless we are dreaming of a white christmas of course. Hmmm...maybe I'll get a white tree next year! :P My christmas tree is half dressed. The bottom half gets its decorations removed daily by my 20 month old. I've given up LOL

Thanks for the drink.

i love that picture.

i wondered what tree you'd have this year after your huge fat tree from last year. i was going to ask you on facebook, but i got here first!

Lisa said...

Do you know what I love about this photo? Well there are a couple of things actually....1) had you not mentioned the Chief I would never have know he was back there 2) That Lucy is wearing some very cute tights 3) That you are in the picture. Now how is a tree flocked and why and do you girls always dress this sassy, cause seriously i feel bad about my everyday in jeans wardrobe I need you girls to take me shopping......

Moogie said...

I love the tree!!! Where did Lucy get her tights? Those are fantastic! You look absolutely wonderful. Now, inquiring minds want to know, did you get the Chief out from behind the tree?

Kathryn said...

I am so buying those tights!!!
Love the tree, love the story, wish I could see The Chief, but that Betsy...what a cutie!

Love the picture, but he must love living life on the dangerous side....disobeying the wishes of a pregnant woman with a water bottle nearby is a risky proposition LOL

The Garden of Egan said...

I wish you would post a picture of you after you retrieved the "lost/hiding" article from behind the flocked tree. Pregnant flocked Jane, cute deocration.

I keep my tree in a corner. Kids can't get behind it that way. (Except my little girl did get stuck under it..) But really, what is with these little ones and the Christmas trees? Why can't they just sit back and admire...?

Don't you just hate it when that happens?! :)

Love the tree.

Love that I would never have known that the Chief was back there.

Love that I'm not the only one who has kirkland water bottles all over my house.

I completely love this photo...

These are the snapshots of life that make the memories!

I'll second the motion that you look fabulous. Pregnancy doesn't feel all that great sometimes, but you look great!

Staci said...

It's my favorite when I say, "don't take a picture of me....seriously....I mean it....I'll be so mad....don't even" and then theres a smile and a flash and another ugly picture of me motioning not to take the picture. We should really learn to smile big and show some teeth cuz they're gonna take the picture anyway.

Staci said...

P.S. Did you say Anybody Thirsty? because of the water bottle or because the chief is drinking from the tree bowl?? I thought it was because he was drinking from the tree but people keep mentioning the water bottle.

geelizzie said...

Yay, you spelled Betsy right this time!! She's so pretty, but of course everyone named Betsy is, ha ha!
oh, and I, too, hate it when people take my picture when I really don't want them to.

My brother in laws are super annoying. It's their job I guess.

anyway nice white tree. Tomorrow we are going to go cut down our tree in the mountains behind BYU-Hawaii. By the way if you are ever too cold in Utah come visit us in hawaii.

I love your retro house and that tree:) We always had a flocked tree when I was growing up - was definetly a 70's tradition! I remember the flock getting on everything but as a kid it was so cool. Love your writing style and sharing yourself with the blogging world.

ParkerMama said...

Love your tree.

Come do mine next year?

Never have had a Chief behind my tree before. But once while living in Turkey we did find a chameleon in our freshly cut down tree.

We named him Tiny Tim.

too funny... i just love your family...i can't believe how much Lucy looks like Stephanie. You all are beautiful. And Stephanie, she is just gorgeous. Really. Reading her post today.. I thought she looked truly beautiful, and I am so happy that she is healing. I really see her healing on the inside, and it makes me excited because it is only going to get better for her... and I will be praying for her, because I know she has hard days, but wow.. she amazes me, and makes me feel good in my heart.

The picture is very cute--thank you for explaining what you are doing bent down like that.

I love your tree. I have never had a flocked tree, but I just told my husband yesterday I might like a flocked tree this year. We're going tree shopping this weekend--a little late this year but I've been sick with a kidney infection and fearful of kidney stones, going septic again; reliving last years nightmare. This weekend the tree comes :)

Love this post. I wish my sisters would just hang out at my house. That would be so nice.

BTW, I can see a picture on the opposite wall through the reflection in the window. It looks like there are birds in it. I would love to see it better and would love to know where you got it.

*Snicker* I love that every picture of you since the tree has arrived finds you covered in flocking. Seriously it cracks me up.
