Thank you for introducing me to Fitz's Root Beer. My son's name is Fitz (Fitzwilliam, actually) and I am thrilled to have found something with his name on it. And I now totally have plans to visit St. Louis some day, just so I can take the family to Fitz's. Seriously made my day.

Any chance you stopped at the Craft Alliance while you were in Delmar? I stop there every single time I go to St. Louis. It's a funky little art gallery/shop where all kinds of local (and not so local) artists sell their work. If you missed it, you should check it out the next time you are visiting the 'rents..........

this blog post made me absolutely homesick! If you can be that way about a place. I served my mission there and spend many p-days in forest park and I absolutely LOVE Imo's pizza! sigh. Thanks for sharing. Best mission ever! Glad your parents are there to take care of the people I love.

Geez, I really miss home now. I am a St. Louis native (ok, and maybe St. Charles, but it's only right across the river). I was in both the St Charles and Hazelwood wards. We moved to North Carolina in 2002, and my children are really missing out on some of the best things in life -- Ted Drewes "Fox Treat" (get this: hot fudge, raspberry sauce and macadamia nuts), the famous "ooey gooey" butter cakes, which I never knew was a STL thing until I was 30 and moved away! I thought every mother or grandmother had one of those up their sleeves. I miss all the beautiful architecture and sights of STL...every single thing you mentioned...IMOS. There are some who detest IMO's pizza (inlaws, grrr) and those who almost worship it..ahem. Forest Park, City Museum, Art Museum, the Loop...favorite haunts. Once we were in Door County, Wisconsin at an architectural salvage shop, and when he found out we were from STL, he told us that he makes regular trips down there for old bricks, gates, etc. He said St Louis has some of the most preserved architecture -- I'm guessing in maybe some of the poorer neighborhoods north of Delmar. I used to love driving through that area (not recommended) and just imagine what it looked like earlier in the 20th century and what details continue to remain. Thanks for the memories, Cjane.

Ps. Don't you love baby arms? They are so useful. Some of the best post-baby pics of me have a baby arm blocking my double chin. Not that you have one, of course! (awkward.)

I have to tell you that you look absolutely beautiful in these photos, and Ever looks just like her Daddy.

My husband is from MN and they eat really thin crust pizza there, which he still loves even though he hasn't lived in MN since he went to college/grad school in Michigan and then moved to Seattle. I don't like the thin crust :(

I'm so glad you're here. I know your mom and dad have missed you. Sunday, my husband will be with your dad and I will love hearing what your dad had to say about your visit - second hand. Keep having a good time. If you really want to have mother and daughter time go to Old St. Charles. They have the most wonderful shops and places to eat. City Museum?? Amazing. My husband and I had our wedding reception on the top floor of that building, during 4th of July weekend. Think city fireworks over the Mississippi that were visible to all our guests. Also, I lost a child in that outdoor climbing cage for about 10 minutes last summer. There are secret slides ALL OVER that sucker. Imos? Really????? I'm not an original St. Louisan, so I've never really fallen in deep infatuation with it. If you're still here, try the Magic House (great for little kids) and the Museum of Transportation. So glad you like our city, it's a pretty great one.

There are more loops (ends of the streetcar lines). Delmar is a favorite (and I used to work at the university beside it), but you might also enjoy the Maplewood area, which was also a loop. Unfortunately, the Wellston loop has suffered severe blight, so not much there. Also, visit Kirkwood! Lots of neat little shops. It's where Lindbergh changes names...
