I totally lay on my left ear when i sleep. And when the baby cries and im exhausted and joe, my hubby, gets her, then I have such a great excuse. Its like my mom in law with her disabled placard due to her post polio syndrome. Its sucks, but she vocally rejoices in her good parking spots! So a silver lining to everything!

Hey, I didnt know you were deaf in your right ear! Thats one of those pieces of information that jar you (like when you hit your funny bone) booooiiiing...because, I too am deaf in my right ear! I lost my hearing in my right ear at 13. I forget about it sometimes until after ive said what?....what?....what?...to my husband and he goes, "I SAID...." And then I remember : ) I think thats so cool we have something in common!

@theandyoneals I have significant hearing loss in my right ear, but I am not 100% deaf. I had my eardrum repaired when I was 8 and again when I was 14 because it kept tearing as I grew. But I didn't noticed hearing loss until I was in my mid-twenties.

Because my left ear can hear corn growing in Iowa I am left to think my holey eardrum had something to do with the hearing loss in my right.

I declare, it has been an adventure!

i blew out my eardrum so much they couldn't repair it as a kid...so now it's just a mass of scar tissue around a big gaping hole. but there is an upside to the definitive loss of hearing in that ear...well a few, to be correct. 1) if i lay good ear down on a pillow, i can effectively cut out 74% of my husband's snoring. 2) i frequently misinterpret what people are saying when there's background noise...so frequently get the give of humility in the form of, "you're a smoker. really? i never saw that coming. i mean, there's that smell in your house, but you know...oh, you're moving and misplaced your fireplace poker...hmmm..." 3) when i plug my noise and close my mouth and blow - i whistle out of my ear. it disgust many, but delights a few, myself included.

Well, I highly enjoyed this post. fly on the wall...
