Anyhow..I am a nurse at Primarys and worked with the MD when he was a resident. He was so great and so easy to work with. How nice to have him in your family.

And a doctor is also a good thing when the man is eating alone and no one knows him or what his health history is. Plus he fell pretty hard to the ground.

You made me think.

I think it would still be a tender mercy because he died under calm, peaceful circumstances with a doctor who knows and respects both life and death.

And not to make light of the situation, but perhaps it would give the other patrons a desire to change their lifestyle. Maybe even diet?

Who knows.

But death is almost always a tender mercy, in my book anyway.

I had a similar experience last year - my girlfriend and I were out for lunch and just as we were finishing she keeled over and started seizing in the middle of the cafe we were in. No history of seizures! Talk about scary! Luckily for me (and her) I have plenty of experience with seisures as my mom is epileptic and I knew what to do and how to keep everyone calm until the paramedics showed up. She is fine now and enough time has passed that we can joke about the fact that she had just finished eating a chicken "seizure" wrap for lunch along with a cup of coffe called: "jamaica me crazy"!!!

When people need a doctor but there is not one there and they die, did God chose not to distribute a tender mercy?

I'm asking sincerely and respectfully.

My husband did two tours in Iraq and returned home safely. It bothers me when people tell me that God took mercy on us because then what does that mean about our friend who was killed? Or the friend who committed suicide shortly after his return?

We don't have MD in the fam so we usually have to put up with hour long waits at Instacare, or a very long weekend away from home.

C Jane, I especially loved that story since I've had a few Grand Mals myself (4-5 over the past 15 years). Except for the possible #5, I've always been within feet of an EMT or someone trained to deal with such emergencies. God is good!

MyMom had a stroke on a flight to Las Vegas and they made an annocement asking for a doctor. Small world--my Mom's doctor was on the plane. Thank God! He knows us all so well and it was perfect. We ended up stayig in Las Vegas for 6 weeks while she was recovering enough to get home to Seattle, but we were able to fly her home.

I will have Stephanie in my prayers tomorrow. I'm having a medcal procedure (day surgery) tomorrow but I will be praying for her. I have added her to my Bible Study groups prayer chain too for the next few months.

I'm an Idaho girl, living in Arizona....I have to say I miss the snow. It's 80 degrees today! Love your blog and will pray for your sis, of course. I remember a trip back to Boise from Utah, my 2 year old was so sick. I asked her what she thought could make her feel better and her little response was simply, "Jesus". Heavenly Father HEARS our prayers, doesn't he.

So interesting... I just started following your blog and, as luck would have it, used to live in Twin Falls until 6 months ago. Now, I am struggling to adjust to Arizona and so can't imagine how you could have "issues" with my hometown. ;o) However, knowing Norms I can see where someone might have some kind of episode there. Next time visit the great LDS bookstore just around the corner from Norms--Bell's Books. Go over there and bolster your faith that God does even visit Norms when the need arises. Go Idaho!! I miss you. P.S. Love your blog and your sister's blog. I will pray for her to find strength for the surgery. I know she's been through a lot.
