I love how you write! I also am greatful anytime someone writes about Down Sydrome. My 6 year old son was born with DS and he is the light of our family. When I hear of women "choosing" not to have a child with DS - I just wish they could spend one hour with my red-haired loveable little guy! He has also made my 9 year old son the young man he is - compassionate, understanding and giving. What a blessing God has given our family! Thanks for sharing and BTW your kids are so dang cute, lady!!!!!

Thank you for this post. He had Downs. He was my entire life. I have his name tattooed my back (I was baptized a year later). I was home from college and I slept in the room below him. I woke up in the middle of the night and new that something was wrong... I went upstairs and found his breathing to be short and labored. I rushed him to the emergency room (my father worked nights and his wife was at the bar) and 7 days later he passed away in my arms in the hospital. I was 19. When I see children with Downs, especially boys in their teens... it takes all of my will power not to walk up to them and and ask for a hug. It's a tender mercy I suppose, that Downs Syndrome children have so many similar features and mannerisms... sometimes my heart stops because I think for a second I've found Morgan again. It's interesting, because I would have guessed that the video installation was symbolic of moving from this life to the next (yes, definitely reading into it with my Mormon eyes in some ways)...you know, going from "seeing darkly, through a glass" kind of thing to the glorious reality of life past the veil. But the artist intended it in the reverse sense. Now I really want to see it!

ps, thanks for the comment on my blog post about the 1871 LDS sacrament meeting!
